How useful are those for self defense? I live in a noguns country and there are many knife assaults, and i intend to make a very long bicycle trip (from Pernambuco, in the northeast of Brazil, to the capital of the country, BrasÃlia). Are those any good in case someone tries to stab me to death? Most are flashlights too, what i think is kinda useful.
I mean, it's better than nothing at all. But you'd probably be better suited with a long stick or a cane.

>ywn beat off rapscallions with your authentic 1850's British oak cane

Apparently deodorant is a pretty good substitute for pepperspray.

Or you could just use pepper spray

Some countries banned pepper spray.
>stun gun
Garbage. It's the kind of thing that your friends would zap each other with while you're all drunk. It might repel an unmotivated thief. It won't repel someone who is trying to kill you.
>real taser, the kind that shoots barbs
This will actually drop somebody, as long as you get a hit and he doesn't wear heavy clothing. The downside is that you only get 1 or 2 shots.

This, a long stick is a pretty devastating weapon if you know how to use it. And unlike a taser it can also be used from your bicycle, even while riding, and not only against human assailants but also against dogs.

better than nothing or a taser. All you will achieve with that thing against a kniife attacker will be to seriously piss him off. So either a stick or aknife of your own. Why not bring a big ass machete with you? Brasil is full of jungle and stuff, no? A ling camping trip would seem like a decent reason to bring something like that with you.

Btw I didn't mean real tasers, I meant those electric shockers like the one in OP's pic.

"stun gun"

This part of Brazil doesn't have that many jungles. I'm more likely to spend all the travel in roads like the ones you guys have there.
So, get a big stick. Ok. I'll look into machetes too, but it may be risky, as polic is such a pain in the ass.

it isn't
