He then saved enough to create his own trucking company and created/owned many large ranches, some of which with oil reserves under them. He didn't even make a big deal out of the whole thing. He's easily the most based man I know irl and I feel so honored to have his blood in me.

The difference between Venezuela and Cuba is that in Cuba the state assumed all basic functions previously managed by private enterprise. Agriculture, medical care, etc., all became state functions, and their preservation became the state's top priority in the immediate aftermath of the revolution.
