ITT: Ugly firearms

I'll start

What the fuck was Ruger thinking with the LCR??
>>
>let's make a cheap gun
>form over function

That's about it fampai
>>
>>34374000
You do know you don't have to buy it in that color cylinder, right?
>>
Anyone here use one? I've been thinking of getting the LCR .38 as my first gun/CC
>>
>>34374266
It's a good gun for carry if you like revolvers, trigger is probably the best you'll get in a newly-made snub, although you have to let it reset all the way
>>
>>34374266
I do not recommend a snub as a first gun. Get something with a full frame.
>>
>>34374266
Nothing at all wrong with it, but I would get the one with the three inch barrel.
>>
>>34374293
Cant. I live in Chicago, cant be carrying around a .45 hand cannon
>>
>>34374266
LCR38 owner here. One of my favorite revolvers. I'm with >>34374293 though.

It's not a good first gun, great CC though. Hate to spam the usual statement but get a 22lr. I highly recommend any single action army 22 for cheap cost and reliable firing regardless of ammo. You could easily get one for 150-200 that is perfect, then buy a used LCR38 for 250-300ish.
>>
>>34374293
A .38 snub is not a problem to shoot at all if you're using standard pressure ammo. I don't see where snubs being hard to shoot comes from.
>>
I think the idea was to make a small, lightweight snubby that's easy to shoot and currently selling like a motherfucker. So I guess they know better than you. The SP101 already looks great
>>
>>34374428
Are they selling more than J-Frames
>>
>>34374000
I want one in 22LR
>>
LCR is my favorite gun I've owned but it's time to answer the real question here.

.357 3" LCR when exactly?
>>
>>34374702
FUCKING THIS
>>
>>34374285
this

I can't imagine anyone I wouldn't recommend it to as their first, bedside, casual HD gun.

definitely still on my next 5 purchases.
>>
>>34374702
Never. SP101 already fulfills the 3 inch barrel .357
>>
>>34374736
I love the SP-101, but I want something nice and light for dirtbiking.
>>
>>34374736
I would rather have a 3 inch LCR than a 3 inch SP101. Three inch guns are belt guns and on the belt, an LCR is like carrying a feather, whereas you feel the SP101.
>>
>>34374266
I have it in 357 and hit 3 inch groups at 25 yards when shooting 38 special through it, but they're very slow shots and like >>34374293 said, get something similarly sized to a Glock 19 at least. You're also going to have to work on not short stroking the trigger and failing to reach the reset because it's quite long which is pretty much the only thing I can complain about with the trigger. It's probably my favorite gun to shoot. Shooting 158 grain 357 out of it hurts after a while but it's a lot of fun. I would recommend the 357 over the 38 special personally since it will make it easier to shoot +p 38 special.
>>
Hey, the LCR actually works and I can't fault it. Ruger should stick to revolvers. If I could find someone to trade me an LCR for the piece of shit LCP .380 I bought new with the Crimson Trace and everything, I'd be a happy man.

Nah, actually, I'd end up feeling bad. The LCP isn't worth two sticks of chewing gum and a half-used #2 pencil.

the "can't tell if hot or ugly girl" of revolvers
>>
>>34374375
Because it is hard to shoot snubs accurately without practicing. It is even harder when they have smaller frames, like the LCR. I carry one myself and while it's convenient for CC due to its size it really lacks comfort.

Even with standard ammo after a few cylinders the LCR is not a joy to shoot. I also wouldn't recommend anything below +P when carrying. Which makes shooting it even more uncomfortable.

If this anon is new to shooting they should get something that is easy, comfortable and fun too shoot. The LCR is none of those. It is a great CC though.

hands down the most ugly modern pistol
even if it works 100% of the time for me
>>
>>34377220
The only thing is that I live in Chicago and there are no ranges anywhere near the city. Wouldnt make sense to buy a big ol .45 if it just sits around in my house
>>
>>34377260
They should have tried to stick with the px4 look & ergos but give it a beretta 92esque trigger guard. Couple that with putting a little bit more time on the trigger and come out with compact model first and you've got something that can compete with Glock.

Are you from the 50s? Since when were the options for CC only a large 45 or a 38 snub?

OP look for something striker fired and about the size of a glock 26 because

>two times the capacity

>superior caliber (look at luckygunners tests of 38 spec and 9mm and you'll see why)

>less recoil means faster follow up shots

>just as easy to conceal on the belt but with more holster choices

>spare mags are easier to carry and faster to reload

>trigger is lighter though the gun is nearly as simple as a revolver

>good semi autos will be just as reliable as revolvers

Unless your stuck with ankle or pocket carry you're doing yourself a disservice going with a 5 shot 38.
>>
>>34377423
The m&p9c I posted should be bought WITHOUT the thumb safety (they can be more commonly found as well), I didn't notice it in the pic.

Here are some good options that will be just as reliable as your lcr and very concealable, they also will come with much more sight options from the factory

>p320sc

>glock 26

>m&p9c

>vp9sk

>fns9c

>p99c

Carry it in a comptac ctac which allows you to tuck your shirt over the gun and you're fucking ready to handle some chi town red guard.
>>
>>34377374
Your entire city is a gun range... Plain and simple OP the reason I dont recommend something like an LCR as a first firearm is because it won't be as great a learning tool as some others for a BEGINNER. Find something that will be easier to learn shooting basics and fun too shoot. Establish a good shooting practice then get an LCR (when you are no longer a beginner). Of course, you can always buy whatever you want.

Try this, go to a range and rent the LCR. Then rent something else. You do have indoor ranges in the city.
>>
>>34377475
I dont think we have any indoor ranges man. I've checked online, need a car to get to em.
