Can we get a 1911 thread going? I've had my Springfield RO Operator for a bit now, and I want to do.some upgrades. Are magwells like pic related from Ed Brown worth it? Are Hogue g10 grips comfy? Is it worth swapping out the white dot rear sights or the fiber front sight for something else? I really like the gun as it is, I just feel like I can still make some improvements.
Also, are Chip McCormick 10rd mags good?

Magwells are pretty great, and I prefer white dots myself.
>>34349655
Yeah the Chip McCormick 10 rd mags, as well as the Wilson Combat 10 rd mags are the gold standard for 1911's

Nice. I'm carrying this as a duty weapon (I know it's a weird choice but it's what I shoot best with), and the Ed Brown one looks like it doesn't add too much bulk.
I'm consider pairing pic related with a tritium-injected front sight. I've heard good things about combining blacked out rear sights with a bright front sight, and these look really cool.
Bump?

Any suggesting for. Front sights that work well with this thing?
If it has a Novak cut I'm partial to a 10-8 rear and Dawson front.
If it has a bomar cut then 10-8 and Harrison both make fixed replacements to fit.
Can anyone help me identify the manufacturer of this frame? It has a full length octagonal cut dust cover, built in flared magwell, a square ish trigger guard and accepts para p-16 mags and is cut for a para/Clark ramped barrel.

It's a Novak cut. At this point I'm trending towards a Springfield adjustable rear like pic related.
>>34351093
Why adjustable? Fine for target shooting at 50 yards or if you shoot several different weight bullets but otherwise uneccesary
If you like it that's fine, but think about a fixed sight if you carry.

SVI titanium frame? You should know what you have there.
>>34351180
I guess I just like the look, and want a plain flat back rear sight. This is carried in a Safariland SLS level 2 holster
>>34351200
It's not. I already contacted Strayer-Voight, they only built one titanium framed "Unobtanium 1" 1911, and it was never for sale, it's still at their shop, which makes this a counterfeit/clone

A little backstory, I paid $300 for this gun as you see it. Double stack chambered in .40 s&w, no grips on it, shitty finish, some of the parts are cast and tolerances are not what a $2000 gun should be at. Additionally the recoil spring in it seems to be a super lightweight target spring, maybe 10# and a #24 mainspring, idk but it's light. But the barrel locking lugs are mushroomed, and the chamber has been reamed out which leads me to believe that someone rechambered it for 10mm and decided to shoot full power loads throu it which is why the barrel is so fucked, and why I only paid $300 for it.

These get a bunch of attention on the striker fired pistols, but he offers them for Novak-cut guns too. Don't have these on my 1911 (Have the a set on my Glock with the green fiber optic) but the minimalist look probably works pretty well.

Pic related

I wouldn't dump a bunch of money into it anon.
>>34351394
neat!
Are there any grips that work with the Wilson Combat magwell straight out of the box?
>>34351754
And by this I mean the bulletproof magwell. Because I just ordered one.

Ill gib you $500 and a handjob from any street hooker of your choosing for it.
Sounds like you just need to replace the barrel and springs.

I didn't notice an increase in anything with those magwells. Just aesthetics honestly. Looks nice if done well, but I didn't get mine to look how I wanted so I reverted to stock.
If you get slimmer grips than what your pistol came with stock, it might mess with your trigger pull. I have a short trigger and regular profile grips, I switched to slim grips for a bit and it was way too cramped to pull the trigger comfortably. I could have replaced it with a mid length and it would have been fine.
Pic is how it was, I reverted to stock. Gun is a Sig Sauer traditional reverse two tone. Only thing I kept was the Harrison design trigger because it has a smooth face and no hole cut out for the reset adjustment screw. Worth the $40 IMO.

I figure it's worth a shot for slightly easier reloads under pressure. And I'm going with normal thickness grips, just using a different material/texture. Part of me is tempted by the Wilson Combat G10 grips for the aesthetic.
