AK Platform-More Reliable
AR Platform-More Modular
Why Cant We Get The Best Features From Both Into One Package?
>>
>>34336986
Simple answer:
Tight tolerances (generally) lead to better accuracy. Loose tolerances (generally) lead to better reliability in less than perfect conditions.
>>
>>34337000
yea but i wonder why some company cant take the basic outer design of an AR and take the the rugged internals of an AK and combine them :/
>>
You can add picatinny rails and other accessories to an AK. Quality ARs are just as reliable as an AK. You are retarded.

Can you people honestly fuck off with "muh tolerances" tight tolerances literally only mean that the manufacturing quality is high, it means literally nothing else.

What you people should be talking about is clearances, you could literally stuff a mouse into an ak receiver and it would work because the clearances are huge. And yes, you can have a gun with a lot of space inside the receiver that still has a very tight lockup, giving you high accuracy and high reliability.

don't x39 AR bolts have huge problems with shearing lugs?
>>

Yes, even the CMMG ones that supposedly fixed it had shearing issues day one.

>better range

Isn't that the most important things for a rifle? Does the AK win in any category that matters? They're both very reliable rifles.

No, the AK is more durable and comes with a cleaning rod, cleaning kit, and screwdriver.

Perfect peasant rifle.

Now would the AK still have issues on Full Auto? These were semi auto only. Same for AR. Would it keep cycling in auto?
>>
>>34341543

If it can't even cycle after a single shot, why would it be able to cycle multiple shots in rapid succession?

>>
>>34337000
>MUH TOLERANCES

Do people ever understand that "loose tolerances" is only helps in dealing with feeding ammunition (I.E ammo variability, bad magazines)

It has nothing to do with protecting from foreign ingress.

The AK can deal with really bad shit in the action because of how violently the long stroke piston pushes shit out of the way, but it will fail if the bolt carrier gets dragged down to much.
>>
>>34341543
>Now would the AK still have issues on Full Auto?
Of course. If the gun does not go into battery fully, the bolt carrier will not trip the sear.

AR15 > AK
Same reliability if you maintain it properly and use the correct ammunition, lighter, gets less dirt in the insides.

>>
>AK more reliable
Not since 1990. They are on par but the AK is still a 3MOA rifle at best. The best way to improve an AK is to not make an AK at all.
See M+M M10X.
>>
>>34341936
Did they change the bolt at all?

The reason why the M27 kills itself is because the locking lugs get stuck on the chamber before its ready to unlock, then it's forced back by the piston. On DI guns the bolt is pushed forward while the carrier is pushed backward, allowing the lugs to unlock safely.

Love how there is no responses to this. I have done shit like this before with an AR and AK, the AK will fucking jam. The "MUH RELIABILITY" is touted by folks who likely have either never owned either rifle or only own one. The AR is superior to the AKM in nearly every regard. The AK has a step up on the AR in cost need of cleaning, I guess since low tolerances don't need much in maintenance.

Since ARs are so mainstream, the cost of an AR is beating out AKs now. Guess capitalism beats communism again.
>>
>>34344314

I don't own an AK or want one but its not capitalism, its government regulations.

ARAK 21, google it
>>
>>34344348
I'm refering to the fact that AR prices have driven down because supply has increased, it is now less expensive to buy a barebones AR than most US produced AKs. I get that cheap century AKs were less expensive beforehand though.

The normal issued aluminum SATNAG.
It also has a better lockup.
The poly ak mags if properly made are better than poly ar mags.

Eh, dubious of your claim about polymer AK mags, and even if the lock up claim were true, the AR lock up is good enough to withstand just about anything short of actively trying to destroy it, so im not sure what more you'd want
>>
>>34347273
Good poly ak mags have metal reinforced locking surfaces and feed lips.
