AK's and AR are both popular here in Florida. Illinois everyone (not counting Chicago Area) seemed to have a M1 Garand and smaller 22 rifles for hunting etc. Handgun wise Illinois is a recent change so no clue but Florida seems to have an awful lot of M&P Shields and Glocks. Lot of the older guys down here in my area used to be big on Kahr conceal carry 40/45 and have since gone to some pocket 380's.

I got into 22 when I was in my teens, but yeah, as an adult with enough income to shoot anything else, I never touch it at all hardly now.
If I want fun, I have centerfires, if I want cheap, I have my 22 pellet rifle and my 10/22 just sits in the safe rotting.

WI here, I'd say either the Marlin 336 or the Winchester Model 1894. It's what I see most commonly at auctions, sales, and gun shops.
