So, I got my order of galil SAR barrels.some of them aren't too bad. Some of them are too far gone. A good portion though are just plain shot out. I'll be putting them through electrolysis and slugging them this weekend.

Got these as an experiment and plain curiosity. So far I'm not really disappointed. Especially for what I paid for them.

Lmao, some Jews just sold you rust.
>>

murilards will buy anything the jews sell
>>
>>34325313
Post pics of the rifling.
Jesus what did they store them in salt water ?
>>
>>34325313
Pics of your electrolysis setup?
>>
>>34325313
If you paid more than scrap value, you got kiked hard, fuck those look bad.
>>
>>34325383
Give me a few minutes and I'll takes pics of some of the rifling. Im Preparing supper. Not really sure we're they were sitting. But, some of them are completely covered and some of them are lightly covered with the original finish still showing. They also appear to have chrome lined barrels and chambers too. The lining is still showing in the barrels and in the chambers. For the most part, there's just crap in the barrel and slugging them should clear the out.

>>34325385
I still need to build one, but I have plenty of stuff to work.
>>
>>34325474
No, I got them for literally scrap price otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.
>>
>>34325363
I keked.

The rifling on this one looks pretty decent.
>>
>>34325862
The rifling is probably mostly rust at this point. Christ imagine the pitting

Most of them look like this so. You can still see the rifling, but it's not very pronounced.

About two or three barrels have excessive corrosion build up in the gas port.
>>
>>34325882
Don't know. My game plan is to put these through electrolysis and then slug them a few times and measure the slug to see what there at.
>>
>>34326010
Updates?
>>
>>34326774
They're still rusted piles of shit.

I won't have the time until this weekend unfortunately. I'll post some results this weekend.

How much did you pay?

I paid close to 1000 after tax and shipping, but it's worth it as a project, and a novelty

the "rifling" you speak of is literally just pitted rust at this point. I would have said you are a fool if you paid $300 for those. The fact that you paid 1k is absolutely pitiful, you have no knowledge of value.
Clean off all the rust and take them to the scrap yard, you might get $100 back if you're lucky.
>>
>>34325862
>>34325842
the rifling near the chamber and the muzzle is what is important.

might have to cut them back a little.

>>
Holy shit dude none of those barrels are viable. All the material lost due to rust will surely affect the harmonics of the barrel. The threads look almost beyond repair. What the fuck, man
>>
>>34329768
Dude could could have pulled an engine from a junkyard and bought all the tools and the kit to rebuild it for around 1000. That would have been a much better project than trying to salvage the rust you bought. Do you just have a lot of money to blow? I've done electrolysis before to remove rust, and while it works, the process itself creates pitting.

>Hey dudes I found this rusty 870 barrel. I'm pretty sure I can salvage this.
>>
>>34329986
before that, you'll need to pay $599 for it
>>
This has got to be a joke. These things are beyond trash, you can already see massive pitting before you even remove the rust. These things are going to be hilariously overbored once you put it through electrolysis holy shit, the bullets are just gonna keyhole through.
>>
Just cheap out op and do a vinegar and water bath

>You payed $1000.00... for that!

I could understand $50.00 - $100.00 tops but 1k for a pile of use to be barrels that look to have been salvaged from a salt water shipwreck is full blown retarded.

> electrolysis will fix this
The only thing that will fix that is a time machine
