The Kuznetzov is technicaly speaking an aviation cruiser and is able to operate indendently and thus, why it has so many defensive weapons.

Russia has no experience in carrier warfare so they get retarded ideas like "hey lets stick anti-ship missiles on a carrier...It'll make it EVEN MORE BADASS"

All this does is take up room and confuse roles, Carriers aren't surface combatants. But given Russia will never have a proper carrier battle group I guess they have no choice.
