What does /k/ think of modular boats?

This is a Project 22385 Gremsomething Frigate, one of only 2.
It's main role is Anti-sub, its sonar is mounted infront but as the picture states, it can be dismounted at will. Not built into the ship itself. It carries 16 anti air missiles (ship has shit radars like 22381) and 8 multipurpose VLS for Caliber.

Is fielding small ships that can be upgraded down the road good? Or useless?

because it worked so good for the LCS huh

Not really comparable. The freedom class is only sorta of comparable and the independence class is a whole other kind of shitfest.

Don't know about this boat but looking at recent military trends modularity seems like the future.
>>
>>34309094
The difference here is that modularity is only used for upgrades instead.
>>
>>34308701
so how do you install the Sonar?
>>
>>34309232
I'm no expert but I would imagine they intend to launch the ship and then weld in on under water.

How did it do in the all-important containership-test?
>>

Frigates are the pretty much the new destroyer where destroyers are the new cruiser given their capabilities.

Russia has a much smaller military budget than they did in the past. Relying on small ships is something that they just have to deal with for budget reasons. Smaller ships like frigates and corvettes are also easier to sell on the global marketplace, which is also a pretty important factor for Russia because selling weapon systems to India helps them finance their own projects.
