I don't know what specific type but it's only a 1.5V circuit, I think. Stick in whatever alkaline that fits in there.

I just bought a top loading Romanian drum, but it doesn't lock into my 2015 WASR-10
can I fit this myself with a file
someone else has already hit some areas with a file, so I don't feel too bad about touching the drum with a file

should I just file the end of the reae locking lug?
>>
I like my Vepr-12. Now I want a regular Vepr for hunting and LARPing as a Dragunov-wielding sniper. Does the gun work significantly better with 7.62x54r or should I just go .308 for doublestack steelies and better ammo choice?
>>
>>34302133
consensus is to go .308 since surplus isn't what it used to be and that was the advantage of the x54r

>>

It's pretty much "arsenal discontinued" at this point since they've done it so many times before.

>>34302507
It's more likely they're using whatever equipment and employees they can to support production of 7.62x39 rifles instead.
>>
>>34302319
Two of them took a month and one of them took less than a week lel
>>
>>34302523
Just out of curiosity, is the folding stock mechanism used on these rifles the same as the one used on their RPKs? That is to say, if I bought a tubular folder FM rifle, could I then buy a legit polymer RPK folder and attach it?
>>
>>34302561
>rifles
As long as they match pin sizes of either 4.5mm or 5.5mm. I am not certain which rifles are 5.5mm but most folders use a 4.5mm pin. Just match the trunnion pin to the stock and you will be good to my knowledge.
>>
>>34302571
I thought rpk folder is different than a standard folding trunion?

You just send it in? I'm still holding off a bit. I've gotta buy meme paint and rivets, and I'm still a little nervous about just the receiver and FCG for US made parts and I'm considering buying a US brake again just for this (until I get it back, obviously I'm not gonna swap out all the US stuff for the stuff original to the kit :^))

And to answer your email no I don't know when he needs it, you gonna send a money order again or just PayPal him this time?

>>
>>34303064
I sent mine without rivets or paint. Gonna buy the paint from Techno in a couple weeks and mail it to him with my name noted somehow on the package. Dunno about rivets lol

Instead of buying a US made brake, just send it in with no brake at all. It's effectively the same. If you insist then just let me send you a US made one, I'd only ask for you to PP me for shipping.

Probably gonna send him a cashier's check. Gonna wait til he mentions it. Put off payment as long as possible. Time value of money. Yadda yadda.

I did get it all to fit in a medium flat rate box again btw

>>

Wut?
>>
>>34303355
Not him but FFL dealers have to enter information into their books and shit before they can do the transfer. Unless your FFL is a bro, they usually drag their feet so it can take awhile before you get that phone call to come pick it up.
>>
>>34303355
It's a police supply store, so they get literally dozens upon dozens of guns each day. Normally they're a lot quicker though; when I had my Scorpion Evo sent to them I picked it up same day.
>>
>>34303363
Any and all of that information should be on the 4473 after you fill it out. I've been at various FFLs before they even opened the box and I did the 4473 right away.
>>
>>34303373
Tell that to his FFL.

>>34303540
Where'd you get the pads and stuff for it? Do you notice any sort of felt recoil difference between the two? Sorry for all the questions
>>
>>34303563
Guess that means I should just get both and have the option of switching out the 2 huh.
>>
>>34303570
AKFiles, GP-25 to the rear and SVD cheek pad on top. The GP-25 slips right on but the SVD one takes some work to keep down

The recoil is already nonexistant on a 74 but the GP-25 pad is amazing because it gives a little bit more LOP and it puts a rubber backer on the otherwise slick metal of the triangle so it stays in your shoulder better
>>
>>34303584
No reason not to honestly, surplus triangles can be had for like $50 on the Files. Good luck finding a factory triangle folder SLR104, just get a polymer one and buy a triangle. It's just a pin holding it all in that you've got to punch out, super quick and easy
>>
>>34303595
Thanks. I'll prob get either or and just switch out between the two, I think the triangle looks slick.

>>34303595
I need something rubber to keep the triangle stock from slipping all over the place for MSW but I feel like a GP pad will add too much LOP with gear on. I'm thinking I'm gonna use some of this thin recycled rubber stuff my dad has and bolt it on with some washers through the two holes in the stock.
>>
>>34303766
It's what he told me over private message. Probably realized no one was going to pay that. I thanked him for his time and he didn't say anything after.
>>

Triangle is the only correct choice for a 104fr since the Bulgarians are still using 4.5mm pin trunnions and k-var's folders are literally an American 74m imitation with the incorrect stock angle.

If you built on a Russian kit with a 5.5mm pin you can literally do whatever you want.

I honestly don't know what purpose it serves. The most convincing answer I've heard is to give clearance for the sleeve that goes over the trigger axis pin. There used to be none, then they started putting one bump on the right side, then sometime in the mid 80's they started putting it on the left side too. Can't remember the exact years off the top of my head.

>Why do they put a 45 degree gas block on their 5.45 guns?

Because the FM rifles are neutered RPKs and that's what Molot has on hand. Just like how Arsenal of Bulgaria uses 90 degree gas blocks on their 107R rifles just to fuck us out of a semi-decent AKM clone.
>>
>>34305253
God fucking dammit. I just want a good factory option that isn't overpriced arsenal shit.
>>
>>34305244
that would be a part of the AK-74 style select-fire FCG, a sleeve holds the trigger+disconnector+rate-reducer together

you can remove or insert it as a group with that sleeve. But hte extra space wouldn't be necessary, slightly convenient maybe.
>>
>>34305265
You aren't really going to find one factory new that's correct unless you want an AKS-74 and the 104fr tap gets turned back on. Your only real options are kit builds and the secondary market for stuff that's no longer being imported. Or a WASR if you can live without the dimples.

It sucks, but you know that in 10 years we're going to be fucking kicking ourselves for not snagging $1k squareback veprs.
>>

Alright so while this isn't as collectible or gucci as the AKs you guys have I just got this M74 over the weekend. So far I'm kicking myself for not getting a 5.45x39mm gun years ago when I originally wanted one. It's so nice to shoot, and is such a handy rifle.

Ignore the crapco mag, it was pictured on GB with a plum and I assumed that's what he'd send it with. The barrel was fucking filthy, so much so that when I chambered the first round it got stuck and pulled the bullet from the casing. I cleaned it and then tried again, it stuck a little at first but that has worked itself out. I've got half a dozen plums in the mail as well as a cleaning rod to complete it.

'74's are good stuff, man, but jesus, why didn't you check every bit of it beforehand? That could have ended worse.

Regardless, it will look absolutely delicious with plums. Nobody here will tell you an AK has to be gucci.

>>
>>34305668
>why didn't you check every bit of it beforehand?
It was an out of state purchase on GunBroker. I did look it over and see the bore was dirty when I picked it up from the shop, but I didn't think it was dirty enough to stick a round. It must have been sitting for a while. I wasn't planning on shooting the first round either, I just wanted to make sure it would actually close all the way since my last venture into AKs was a bad one.
>Regardless, it will look absolutely delicious with plums
Yes it will. It's probably going to be my go to range rifle with how 5.45 ammo is. Like I said, I'm just kicking myself for not getting a 104 back when they were $800 and stacking 7N6 to the ceiling for ~$100 a case.

Trust me, my first venture into AK's was a bad one too. 5.45 is still fun to shoot regardless. Wish I'd gotten into it when it was that cheap, but that's why I also got a 107. I just find it incredible how good the condition of the wood from those kits is, on average. 1983 to 2017 is a lot of years to travel through while staying in nearly flawless condition.

The stock that came with my kit actually wasn't in good condition and didn't have good color. I drew the short straw with that one. Sold it and decided I'd do a folder. Changed my mind. Found somebody else selling a near flawless 1983 stock from somebody else who was doing a folder. Bought that and couldn't be happier.

Honestly not a bad thing to plan out if you're going for a specific year of make, I don't think I'd have the kind of time to invest to really do that. Ridiculously cool, though. Rest of the kit looks solid but obviously the wood's going to just take the cake.

I had an M44 that I've beat to shit and fired out the bore that was in more or less pristine condition, it must have sat in an armory or something.

Impressive. My SKS appeared to be unfired when I got it. Not the most flawless one I've ever seen as it had some storage wear, but the piston and everything appeared to all be factory condition. Made me not want to shoot it, but then I did.

For me the premium was due to it being from another 1983 kit. I wouldn't be content buying any random AK-74 stock that I thought looked good to put on my kit. This stock, I know for a fact came from the same batch of kits that mine came in. And since non-serialized parts got mixed up with the Rguns kits, it makes no difference. The stock that originally came with that 83 kit was 99% probably not the stock that belonged to that serial number. Only the serialized parts are guaranteed to have belonged to the same original rifle. And even then there is a chance that some parts are from a different rifle that had the same last 3 digits.

I wouldn't be able to stand not shooting a firearm I own, though. I don't go shooting often because the ranges in Southeastern Wisconsin are garbage and I work weekends.

Still, props man, I'm glad you were able to acquire something so close to what you had but even better. Good on you, and I'm sure it'll be in much better hands, regardless if it wasn't the same rifle.

I honestly feel pretty bad for my M44. I've abused it to the point of the front-sight coming off. The rifling looking real shot-out. All of those stripper clips I've shot are just because the bolt works so well. I've never felt a mosin bolt working so smoothly. Tap the handle up and left from the fired position and the entire damn thing shoots back without having to move another muscle. Push forward and to the right and it chambers without a hitch, smooth as butter no matter how hot it gets. Hence.. why I've just about shot the bore out.

Ok. As someone who wants an SIG 551 but doesn't want to spend 2k on a gimped Sauer ripoff version, why shouldn't I get an Arsehole SLR-106UR?

Topkek fucking slavs

You can go to Valdai/Jupiters site tho, from what I heard there's supposed to be civvie versions soon once military contracts start getting fulfilled. And once mil contracts start getting fulfilled I'll be we see both versions hitting the gray market soon. Hopefully at much cheaper cost than that

Puts a weird tingly feeling in my heart seeing the 1P87 progress, I remember possibly almost a year ago now(?) even finding evidence that it existed outside photo shoots was insane for me, now there's some trickling out
>>
>>34309408
Because they're not even close to comparable?Just get the full length version if you must, FR or gtfo
>>
>>34309408
New URs and CRs have a port restricter that needs to be drilled out when you convert to SBR because retards were buying the old versions with a port intended for krink/100 series barrel lengths and then shooting the shit out of them without cutting them down, causing them to overgas them to death

They're just a PITA cause if you get a normal port one you can't shoot it till it's SBRed and a new one requires some PITA work once it is converted

5.56 AKs can just be nuisance and mags are 40+ a piece
>>
whats the best short-medium range scope for an ak for ~$300 or less? are the newer scopes from primary arms better than the old combloc stuff like psops etc
>>
>>34309408
>>34309494
So let's say bought a UR to specifically SBR it like, weeks ago, would it be a new version?

Where do I look to find more information about this port restricter and who knows how to properly deal with it?

They haven't imported CR versions in like what, 7 years? I honestly doubt the extra 4inches of barrel is enough to best themselves to death anyways regardless of port size. The UR is a different story though.
>>

Check the serial range, that'll tell you

Was this ever verified?
I recall a couple hundred threads ago, we had some discussion about discrepancies of the rifle in that video and the pictures of the 104 wood sidefolder.
I can't recall what exactly those discrepancies were, though.
I do remember that I speculated the rifle Putin gave to Sissi was a possibly a placeholder until the actual rifle was finished.

Seems so. Everything is put together nicely, though I'm having some trouble with bakelite mags consistently locking in. My only other head-scratcher is that the 74U LLC receiver bead-blast is very rough; I thought it was the Moly Resin finish that made it rought to the touch, but the other refinished parts don't seem as rough to the touch as the receiver sides.

I'm also looking at the bottom of the Arsenal hammer that I have in it at the moment and wondering it it'll need replacement post-haste.
