In Ohio, since I have my CHL, all I have to do is fill out the 4473 and I can walk out with the gun. I'm usually in and out in five minutes. Before I had the CHL, the longest it took was 20 minutes

I think the longest wait I ever had was 15-20 minutes. The usual is about five-ish. Instant doesn't literally mean instant, but it is pretty fast.
