They're cool as long as you have hours of your day to dedicate to them and are fine with poop. More than cool, actually.

I went to Cabelas. By that I mean I packed up my family of 5 to go to Cabelas because I've decided that life's not complete without a 300 winmag in my life so I drove 2 and a half hours in the shittiest traffic of my life and took the family to Cracker Barrel, my wife's favorite which happens to be in the same parking lot, and my two year old projectile vomited all over the table as soon as the food came. So I went to Cabelas and looked at it from the outside and now I'm at home eating cold Cracker Barrel.

I go started shooting 5-stand every Friday and entering sporting clay tournaments about 3 months ago. Today I shot my first ever straight (25/25 targets on 5-stand), then a 24, followed by a second straight. Overall my scores were 22, 23, 25, 24, 25, 23.

I had plateaued at 21-23 for a while, so I'm pretty happy. Oddly enough it happened on my 'backup' gun, an A400 Xcel. My main gun is a UGB25 and is at the gunsmith right now having some parts looked at for wear.

Feeling pretty good about the tournament I'm going to on Sunday.

I really want an over/under for clays but I need to buy a safe before I buy any more guns.

There was a lot of that when my grandfather on my dad's side passed. Wish I had been more into guns back then because we kinda split that stuff between my dad and my uncle in law who is notorious for mistreating firearms.

Of note from today, I got to see my great grandfather's 30" side by side hammer fired shotgun, and I believe either a Remington or Winchester coach gun. Also helped my dad identify a Montgomery Ward branded .410 break action as being made by Savage, and I gotta say.. for a department store cheap gun it has beautiful bluing and wood that puts most modern stuff to shame.

Bro, today was special. I picked up the oldest from school at 2:30 in St Helens, dropped him off at my old mans in Beaverton and got to Tualatin at 5:30ish. Literally no dilly dallying at all. Completely reinforced my decision to move the duck out of the suburbs. Combine that with getting the toddler and the newborn ready to leave before we left and having to listen to my wife's spotify the whole way there it's a miracle I didn't off myself.
