Why are new shooters such faggots?

>buy stupid firearm purchases
>think brands like colt, ruger, and remington are still what they used to be
>shoot fast and sloppy
>don't drink before and while shooting

I mean, I try to be friendly, give advice, and let them have their fun, but I internally cringe when I see their shooting or purchasing mistakes.
>>
>"Why are people who are new to something not as good at it as people who have been doing it a long time? This makes no sense to me!"
>>
>>34268487
Also, there's nothing - nothing - really wrong with Ruger in the current year.
>>
>>34268487

Nobody new to guns even knows about Ruger
>>
>>34268518
Don't take the bait. Sage this shitty ass thread.
>>
>>34268487
there is literally nothing wrong with Ruger.
>>
>drinking while shooting
>>
>>34268487

Also you're retarded if you think past ruger is better than current ruger
>>
>>34268487
Ruger did nothing wrong.
>>
>>34268487
Man, rugerfags coming out in full force.
>>
>>34268563
What is the groupthink consensus on why are we supposed to hate Ruger? I've got a 10/22 and an LCP2, and I think they do an alright job making guns.
>>
>>34268533
>not drinking while shooting

Alcohol is a performance enhancing drug for National Collegiate Athletic Association matches.
>>
>>34268640
imo their 10/22, the Mk.IV, their revolvers, their AR15s and their SR15s are all excellent firearms. other than their shitty centerfire semiauto pistols, they mostly make good quality and reasonably priced firearms.
>>
>>34268640
Nothing is "wrong," with them. It's just like, why?

Revolver? Smith and Wesson beat them. .22? Savage or Marlin beats them (although not on the customization, I'll give them that). Handgun? Also middle of the road, but I won't take a claim there because that's a contentious issue.

>CZ, Sig, and Glock
>>
>>34268640
Some people are still booty blasted that 20 years ago, their former CEO, who hasn't been at the company in years, cucked on high capacity magazine bans.
>>
>>34268640
Because bill ruger was a cocksucking gun grabber in bed with the dems who wouldnt release hi cap firearms because it was "irresponsible"

But fortunately he died a long painful death and ruger has become politically silent, releasing designs that would make the old man spin in his grave all the while.

Frankly I like new ruger, second most progressive company design wise(behind keltec), but actually tends to release working stuff and stand behind their products
>>
>trying this hard to be the old guy at the range
>>
>>34268653
I guess I agree, it didn't look like they brought anything to the table when it came to handguns that another brand didn't do better in a ton of ways. I did choose their LCP2 as a pocket pistol, as it seemed to be the best option. I liked my shield, but the bodyguard seemed like a giant POS so I had to shop around.
>>
>>34268661
I'm not a revolver guy, but I've heard both sides and they both seemed to have valid points. IMO savages aren't better than ruger, don't know about marlin though...cz .22's are some of the best I've seen though. I do think most ruger handguns are a waste of time though.
>>
>>34268487
Newfag noguns here. I can shed some light on the second one. People who aren't autists who secretly try to learn as much about guns from /k/ and youtube as they can, because their parents are really liberal and won't let them get guns only know about guns from movies and vidya. They probably don't even really know anything about how gun companies work.
>"Of course Colt is the shit, they make 1911s (as seen in COD and everything that involves the Americans in WW2), Pythons (as seen in COD and probably other places), Detective Specials (as seen in cop shows and detective movies), SAAs (as seen in MGS and anything that has to do with the old west) and so much other stuff."
>"Of course Remington is the shit, every pump shotgun I see in a video game is a Remington."

Also can I have the sauce on that pic?

The autists on this board hate on Ruger for the same reason they hate on Glock. Ruger makes solid guns but their aesthetic is more unrefined and workman-like than some prefer. That's why you get faggots jumping through mental hoops to justify buying a cuck revolver with a lock because they can't just come out and admit they will gladly be cucked for aesthetics.

I like the Ruger aesthetic myself and they make something of quality for damn near every niche of the shooting market.
>>
>>34268487
They often learn about guns from video games or movies. They only see the gun working perfectly because very rarely do either of those ever show malfunctions or general reliability and handling issues. The media also makes certain brands sound amazing to anyone not pissing themselves every time they hear shrubmaster mentioned.

It's fun to mag dump and scares the Fudds away. It's a nice rush and not everyone cares about hitting that target 500 yards out.

>drinking while doing fuck all with guns
Next time you try to get shitfaced while shooting please remember some guns need a suck start alongside the trigger pull.
>>
>>34268698
The best option is the P238 or P938 if you dont mind a safety/SAO pistol. I prefer it since I only own manual safety pistols. Also the sigs are more expensive, although the P238s can be found around 400 from time to time, and P938s go on sale for 500 regularly.
>>
>>34269023
I'm not a fan of hammers or safeties on IWB/pocket guns I carry. And it's twice the cost. I think they are probably the highest quality pocket guns you can get though.
>>
>>34269058
Fair enough. I sold my LCP for a P238, the difference is night and day. The LCPs slide is much harder to pull back, the controls are harder to use, the trigger is mediocre at best, and its recoil is snappy as fuck. The P238 is like a luxury pocket pistol, if that makes sense. Low recoil despite being tiny and fairly lightweight, a great trigger, good sights, and I can magdump accurately and quickly.

Mainly because Bill Ruger hated us and our rights, supported the Clinton AWB, supported import bans that protected his business, etc. Secondly, because any new Ruger design always seems to suck for a few years before they fix them with a Gen 2, rather than offering free or inexpensive repairs to the people who already bought the shitty Gen 1.

M-14 isn't 5.56 and doesn't take STANAG mags i dont expect it to.
Mini-14 is 5.56 and is not an M-14
the Mini-14 was designed and sold long after the M16/AR 5.56 STANAG mag conventions were introduced and in high circulation.
there was no good reason not to make the Mini-14 STANAG compatible in the first place.
And its something they should have corrected a long fucking time ago, like how cell phone chargers finally became standardized after a few years of every manufacturer using a different plug.

Anything chambered in 5.56 today should automatically be designed to accept STANAG mags. to do otherwise in beyond retarded.

>>

This. The pick-and-choose mentality is literally unsustainable. You can't make a social system out of "destroy all things that make me uncomfortable" because there are more people in the world than you, and they're made uncomfortable by different things. Setting a precedent like that just means they'll do it back to you. It's cyclical; that's how we've gotten to a point where guns and drugs are "bad". Regardless of what the Constitution says, every liberty we enjoy is a measure of toleration by those who don't use it. As long as we try to pick and choose, the war continues. The government can be big or small. It cannot be small for you and big for the people you don't like. Not for very long. Those people vote too.
>>
>>34273759
They don't go into detail because they'd have to admit there is nothing functionally wrong with the guns but they don't like the aesthetics of the design or Ruger's habit of putting liability warnings on their guns.

>>34273802

It's the Compact Carry version. Love everything about it from the soft recoil, sights, ergos and it has an incredible 8lb DA trigger. The DA pull breaks right at where the SA pull does so the transition feels a little bit more consistent compared to other DA/SA guns.

I haven't been shooting or carrying it in the past few months since the Glock 19 carries much easier for me but I have around 2,000 rounds in them at this point.

I strongly recommend trying one out, don't judge a gun by its looks but more of how it can shoot and what it has to offer. You will not be dissapointed.

>The "don't expect it" thing is pretty retarded honestly. If you intend to fire, why would you be surprised about it? This has never made sense to me.

It's really for beginners to prevent snatching the trigger and anticipation of the shot leading to flinching. Once enough reps are down you have a base muscle memory of what a proper squeeze feels like then you can start actively picking when to break the trigger.
