Would 7.62x39 kill a Tyrannosaurus rex, hypothetically speaking? Say you shot one a bunch of times in the chest with an SKS, would that end its life?
>>
Quantify "a bunch of times"
An elephant will die to 5000 rounds of 22lr
>>
>>34268409
Eventually it would die if you shot it enough
>>
>>34268409
Depends on what you hit you retarded little faggot.

But yea they'd likely die sooner or later.
>>
Eventually, yeah
>>
>>34268409
A general rule for large therapods is; if it will kill an elephant, it will kill a dinosaur.

Modern poachers use AKs to kill elephants, and while it usually takes many mags to kill one, it can be done.
>>
>>34268409
Depending on how far away it is, how old it is, what breed, how angry it is, ect.

You can shoot a grizzly as many times in the chest point blank with a hunting rifle as you like, but if its a pissed off mother it'll rip you in half before dying under the effect of adrenaline.

You're gonna want something that can drop an elephant reliably.
>>
>>34268409
Yeah, but im thinking a punt gun firing a slug would work better.

you're going to need more gun
specifically 12.38 mm more gun
>>
I think if pic in op is what you're aiming at, aiming for between the clavicle area into the heart and lungs would be pretty easy, and would wreck shit up. Seems like a nice, exposed, vulnerable spot.

sure, hes just gonna stand there while you take pot shots at him,
making him angry and looking to have your ass as a snack
>>
>>34268476
to be fair, people have taken elephants with a .22 before to prove a point
>>
>>34268700
That seems kinda cruel
>>
>>34268409
It's all about shot placement
>>
Could you? Probably yeah. The real question is whether or not you'd survive to brag about it.
>>
>>34268409
Sure.
If you hit in the brain it will go down and 7.62x39 won't have trouble passing through to the brain, especially the commie steel core stuff.

Will go down if you hit the heart as well.

Problem is hitting those two things will be difficult vs hitting just center mass with a big bore rifle or better yet a 40mm grenade.
>>
>>34268409
well, if you magdump an AK at it's chest, yes, but it won't be instantaneous

I'd get some big elephant bullet or .50 BMG given the right circumstances
>>
>>34268409
Sure, but you better either have good aim or a lot of mags, a fast trigger finger, and be well practiced with quick reloads. You can still drop things with good hits to things like the heart but the question is can you do that before you're dinner?
>>
>>34268761
>extremely thick skull
>brain is extremely small
and you're dead
>>
>>34268431
I'm not entirely sure .22 would Pierce it's hide to begin with, but I have no empirical evidence to back this up.
>>
If I had to hunt a t-rex the minimum I would take is a belt fed in 7.62 NEATO with a 40mm strapped to it just in case.
>>
You going to Jurassic park? Take a platoon of operates with mosins. Record everything please.
>>
>>34268808
>"Death in the Long Grass" author, Peter Hathaway Capstick, once killed an elephant on a bet with a .22 LR. Shocked He was working at the time as a Kenyan goverment hunter culling herds that were over-grazing and rampaging through villages. He did not recommend the practice but he knew a particular spot where an artery ran just below the hide.
>>
>>34268442
Wow you're so polite and helpful
>>
>>34268409

T. rex weighs 8 tons.
>>
>>34268409
You could probably do it poacher style and take the chest/lungs till it more or less drowns in its own blood.
>>
>>34268781
>thick skull
>equils steel armor
>>
>>34268781
Their brain isn't small

Unlike your's

High profile case of a guy killing a grizzly with a 9mm. Shot placement
>>
I think y'all severely underestimate how thick a tyrannasaurus skull really is. 50bmg or gtfo
>>
>>34268409
762x39 is perfectly adequate for dinos, not ideal, but adequate.
