Can I really order a "parts kit" and build an AK in my shop at home, without ever having owned a gun before?
I want to beat up an AK and shoot stuff. I probably won't use it for more than one summer outing with my redneck buddies. That being said, is it feasible to just order the bits of an AK through the mail and just build it myself?

Yes you *can*, but without experience you will certainly fuck it up. If you want a first timer gun project, build an AR-15. You can build them to take AK ammo if that's a factor for you.
