Fudd Gun General

Tell me I'm not the only one who is a closeted fudd gun lover.
>>

>fudd gun
Guns are Guns.
Only people can be fudds.
If you like wood and steel, but are okay with whatever anyone else wants to own and will vote to let them have it, you're not a fudd, you just like wood and steel.

Like me.
>>
>>34232620

>>

7N6.
Magazine capacity limits.
Hunting caliber restrictions.
Hunting magazine restrictions.
Hunting firearm restrictions (no rifles, handguns are okay, shotguns only, other retarded shit)

Among other things.
>>
>>34232706
I spent all of my new sock money on ammo.
>>
>>34232716
And let me clarify: 7N6 was something they SUPPORTED, not something they voted for.

The times are changing old man, the synthetic/stainless master race will reign supreme. Also iron sights should be bright colours that contrast between the front and rear.
>>
Semi-serious question here. M1 Garands and M1 Carbines, sporterized or otherwise. Are those considered Fudd guns? Wood and metal, technically milsurp but deeply rooted in Americana.
>>
>>34234245
so the thing about the M1 Garand is you can't really sporterize it, and the M1 Carbine is pretty much already sporterized.

Considering that some M1 Carbines are EBUL SAULT WEAPONS according to Sen. Feinstein, it's for sure Not Fudd. As for the Garand, I've yet to see any gun owner object to people owning them. They're target rifles desu from an era where the US Military issued target rifles to troops.
>>
>>34234063
idk if the milsurp bolt actions are considered fudd. If they are than I guess I'm a fudd.
>>
>>34234309
So basically it's an "up to user discretion", basically?

>Hunting caliber restrictions.
>Hunting magazine restrictions.
>Hunting firearm restrictions

You can debate the merits of specific laws all you want, but this is not a SHALL issue. The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting.

People should not shoot at bears with .22's. People should not unload into a flock of geese with a 25 round drum magazine. Those things are abuses of a shared, finite resource and there should be penalties.

The problem with that is that it shrinks the market for non-fudd guns which actually ends up fucking us in court when appeals court judges say that "assault weapons" are "uncommon and dangerous". Mind share matters.

Supporting those kinds of laws is just as bad as voting for them. What fudds don't realize when grabbers go on blast cutting away at 2nd amendment laws they'll be coming for those "sporting" weapons next. All it takes is one murder with a bolt-action rifle and they'll go hollering all bolt-action rifles are "sniper" rifles.

Remember, JFK was killed with a Carcano, not a AKM or an AR-15.

Inner fudd checking in. I can never see myself wanting to own an AR, and all my guns have wood stocks. What can I say I just have a thing for wood.
>>
>>34236687
I have either an Egyptian or Argentine (too stupid to slug a bore) Rolling Block carbine. That is probably the handiest gun I own besides my 94, so recently I've been looking for a modern one in .45-70. The only modern Rolling Blocks that are carbine length are pistol caliber and the shortest barrel I can find for the big bore ones are 22". All the 22" ones have a weird looking stock that seems to bend upwards instead of staying straight like an original or having a more sensible pistol grip.

Why can't Pedersoli or Uberti make a legit Rolling Block carbine? The action is strong enough for most hunting cartridges and if either of those companies wanted to, they could make a serious contender to the H&R and NEF single shot rifles.

As long as you support the right to own an AR-15 with 30-round mags, you're fine in my book. Problem fudds are those who don't see any problem restricting all other gun owners who don't share their taste in firearms or don't just want a traditional deer rifle.

>>
>>34237800
It infringes on the "BEAR" part you illiterate fuck.

Bear means use.
Use means defensive sporting and hunting use. Therefore hunting caliber and magazine restrictions are infringement.

I actually agree with caliber restrictions (in a way)
However it should be done by muzzle energy if it's done at all. And the fact that it exists is still an infringement, even if it makes sense.
>>
>>34238030
I agree with absolutely none of it.

The second amendment as written should apply all the way up to nuclear weapons.

Where's my GODDAMN TANK TRUMP.
>>
>>34238084
>shooting a deer with .22 or should be legal
I'm not saying it needs to be a law.
I'm actually saying it shouldn't be a law because it IS an infringement.
But.
It also kinda pisses me off that that's not just regular knowledge and nobody would ever try to shoot a deer with .22 lr.
>>
>>34238030
It absolutely does not state that bearing arms means for hunting, that's your speculation putting meaning to the word. You are not restricted from owning these guns, however it is well within the power of a more local legislation to determine what restrictions are fare use when you utilize a public resource. That is not an issue of the second amendment.

>>34237775

Modern scopes as we know them didn't really come into their own until Post World War II. While there were manufacturers of smaller form factor scopes as far back as 1900 they were both expensive and usually fairly fragile. The long tube scope was easier to build and relied on relatively proven technology. I have a Bausch & Lomb Balvar-24 that is roughly 27 inches long and mounts to the barrel, it was built as late as 1965. That scope was a FFP 6-24x variable with adjustable focus and parallax and tapered crosshairs and excellent glass, couldn't likely be done with the internal adjustment small scopes of the era.

Except just because use guns to hunt DOES NOT mean that you get to decide what is fair use when you use those guns in a legally completely unrelated sport. Are pistol only ranges also breaching the second amendment? No. The second amendment gives you the right to own firearms, not the right to use any firearm you want for any firearm related activity , and not every restriction that has something to do with firearms is a direct attack on the second amendment. Quite honestly it's people like you who cannot be trusted to not abuse or misuse a public resource that should be regulated to preserve it for future generations.
