Statistically speaking, you will never need it, and if you do, it will suffice.

If you do dumb things like cruise the hood, or work in a liquor store at night, results may vary.

It's fine, considering how quickly most civilian gunfights end (1-2 shots). However, an M&P Shield or Glock 26 are very nearly the same size and give you a little bit extra, just in case.
