I am a 30/m in Ontario and I am interested in the idea of having a weapon to use for sport and alternatively for protection. It could be a pistol and any kind of entry gun. I am not a gun enthusiast.
What are the laws like in Canada? What do I need to do? I have depression/anxiety on my heath records but no criminal record and I am treating my issues.
Is this something I should even be worried about? Should I look into something like non-lethal protection (ie. paintball guns) instead?

Why the fuck can't you just google it
For long rifles and shot guns you need what's Called a posesiton and aquasiton Licence or PAL for short. For hand guns and "tactical" rifles you'd need a Restircted PAL or RPAL for short. You need to take a safety course and send some papaerwork into the rcmp and wait. Google Gun safety classes for your area

stfu... I am trying to figure out if it's even worth it in Canada.
Apply for your RPAL, don't lie about anything on the form, they might request a doctors note for the anxiety/depression.
Then buy guns

You'd have to get a licence and you cant use the gun for protection

I made a video just for this.

Be absolutely sure you don't lie about your past on it. They don't care that you had problems in the past as long as you can get an A-OK from your doctor now.
