whats the proper way to hold a pistol? my friend said I was holding it like a faggot by putting my hand at the bottom of the handle. Does it matter if I hold it that way?

"tea cupping" is for revolvers to all those hot gasses don't fuck up your hand.
>>
>>34222118
That's called teacupping. Makes you kinda look like a fag, although it was a standard usage in revolver times. I believe it was meant to control muzzle flip, but considering most are automatics these days, you want to have your supporting hand directly behind your grip hand.

Good to have the basics, but stance/hold/etc is really secondary to your performance. They may help it, so don't ignore them, but you may find your own comfort zone that may be a hybrid of technique.

Try Google

Trolling, even on /k/, is not this easy.

Tell your friend there's nothing wrong with being a fag.

Even with revolvers its a bad move. Just use a standard two handed isosceles grip and watch your thumbs.

It's not ideal for follow-up shots, but a good technique for stabilizing your shot.
>>
>>34222118
Hold gun with shooting hand. Grip wrist of shooting hand with off-hand. Best way.

>>
>>34222118
Just do what works for you

I kinda hold it like in >>34222183 pic but without being a hunchback or looking like I'm trying to unleash a turdnuke because that shits just uncomfortable for me
>>
>>34222118
yea, that's for hommuhsexuals and women.
you're gonna wanna adopt a weaver or isosceles stance so the your off hand can add to your grip strength instead of doing nothing.

Google that shit you fuckwit

It can be held in many many ways op.
But I find that the best two are as follows:
1: Sideways, this way not only do you look like a "Playa" but you can also catch your brass in your mouth as you shoot at other homies n shit.
2: With the muzzle pointing directly at your head. This is really safe if your pistol is in 9mm pussy calibre, but don't think about attempting it with .22lr, as an ND will liquidize the important stuff in your head.

I suppose if you weren't wanting to hit anything at all then you could just try to hold the pistol in a way that is comfortable to you, and still supports the pistol in a good way to enable you to look down the sights.
But option 1 is best.
>>
>>34222208
>It's not ideal for follow-up shots
So it's practically useless.

> but a good technique for stabilizing your shot
Maybe if you suffer from muscle atrophy.
>>
>>34222794
My first gun was a single action .22 revolver when I was about 13. I was obsessed with Wild Bill Hickok at that time and would read a lot about how he and other gunfighters would shoot. So, I started shooting in a duelist stance with arm all the way out and facing the target sideways. Still shoot pistols like that to this day.
>>
>>34222118
If you are having trouble you might want to try a gun with gripzone.
>>
>>34222604
I miss him.
>>
>>34222794
Are you like 80?
Why not get better control with two hands?
>>
>>34225012
It was pretty common to shoot a handgun mostly one handed up into the 1970's and 80's anon.

Even though two hand techniques are superior you should practice single hand shooting because shit happens.
>>
>>34222118
Hold it how it works for you. Fuck what everyone else says.

He asked what the best way to hold a pistol was.
It's a legitimate question.

Here's an old FBI training video where they advocate shooting from the hip, one-handed

The best shooting stance is standing tall, 1 hand holding the gun like you own the place. Opposite foot forward, the other leg turned slightly. Off hand stiff on your back pocket or waist (dangling it effects long range accuracy).
