What does /K/ think about a HK USP in 9mm? Thinking about getting this as a first semi auto pistol.

I own a Henry Big boy chamberd in .357
A Ruger GP100
And a mossberg 500 in 12gauge.

Wanted to know your oppinions on it?
>>
I think it's a little like using an Abrams just for the mounted .50 mg. Good pistol but overbuilt for a tame round, just get one of the newer models.
>>
.45 or get out

I'd only ever get the Match USP and that only cuz half life fanboy.
>>
Its overbuilt but goddamn its a great pistol.

Couldn't do much better in a handgun.
>>
>>34221016
That's why you load it with hot as fuck rounds, anon.
>>
>>34220864
It's a good pistol. You will want to hold one and see how the grip and controls feel. The rail on it requires an adapter to work with regular picatinny accessories. The magazines hold 15 rounds of 9mm which is on the small side for such a large handgun. Other than that, it really depends on how it feels in your hand.
>>
>>34220864
you can get them in .40 dirt cheap

I think I am picking one up in the next 6 months for a pending suppressor. The hk tactical 9 just seems to have all the shit I want for a supressed handgun.

I'm not crazy about the the prop rail, but I'm hardly a railfag anyway.

Their are also funnel magwell/17 round mag kits that bring the capacity up a little. But then the huge gun is even bigger. Mag price goes from silly to plain ludicrous, but it's an HK after all. Jury is still out on that.

This. .45 is THE caliber for the USP, both because there's too many better options for a wonder 9mm and because 9mm is a waste of how overbuilt the pistol is. Shooting 9mm in a USP is like driving an F35p with a 4 banger in it, more efficient but just wrong. I love 9mm, I love the USP (my favorite gun hands down), but 9mm is a pointless caliber in that platform.
>>
All the USPs are good guns and have their place, but the 9mm full size will feel low capacity if you don't get jet funnel magazines. And if you do get jet funnel magazines, they are really expensive, like $90 per magazine, so keep that in mind.

You can get the metal ones for 60, the polymer ones are even cheaper

>>34222308

There are no "metal ones." The ones marketed as "steel" are polymer with steel reinforcements at the feed lips - just like all other USP9 magazines. Look at the pictures. It clearly has a polymer body. And do tell us where you can get them for $60.

The 9mm USP is a fantastic gun.

Problem is, it was designed for Nazi death robots instead of actual people with people hands.

P2000 gets you backstraps and much nicer (albeit smaller) magazines.

P30 gets you side panels and backstraps, plus the same magazine size.

It's not even redheaded step child, it's just good old fashioned middle child neglect.

It doesn't have the aftermarket built by the USP from years of simply existing, and it doesn't get twice the attention that the P30 and VP9 do from accessory swapping.

It was the new thing for all of what, five years? Then the P30 comes along and it's done. They're so close that the P30 barrel and/or slide will fit and manually cycle (not brave enough to try it live) on a P2000 frame, and magazines from either line will fit and function in either, magwell allowing. The P30 was almost called the P3000, even.

At the end of the day, it's the most comfy option out of the two compacts that HK offers. That's good enough for me.

Do this, 10mm is better than all the pussy calibers mentioned here:

Or, just get a .45acp USP and shoot hot .45 super rounds out of it (1300fps vs 800-900fps with the acp), then the .45 will actually be advantageous to the 9mm when not suppressed.

I posted about that a little white ago: >>34224453
I think 10mm is much more effective than .45 super, but a benefit of .45 super is that most .45 guns can be converted to it with a spring change, can can always revert to shooting .45 acp reliably for plinking. This is unlike 10mm which will have problems if you feed it .40 short&weak.

.45 super is one of the most underrated cartridges.

>not knowing a 5 year old 4chan meme

I think technically I won then. But the .40SW is totally worth it if you load it WITH SUPER FUCKING HOT ROUNDS amirite?

Even the hottest hand-loaded .40 short&weak loads that are within SAAMI specs, .40sw cant compete with the lightest factory 10mm loadings.

I haven't shot a USP9T, but I believe they have match triggers, which are much fuckin nicer than the stock stuff. there is really no comparable line of P30 guns to the USP T series. IE: There is not "P30T" that comes tricked out with a threaded barrel, improved match sights and a match trigger. For the standard P30 factory standard 1/2x28 RH twist threaded bbls are really easy to get. But for P30Ls I ended up having to get a 13.5x1 LH threaded bbl - At least it's factory HK.

You can very easily get a match trigger for P30s/USPs/P2000, if you are handy just buy the parts off of HKparts and do it yourself, if you are lazy just get an RMA from HK and send it to then, or find an HK certified armorer.

The biggest suck of the P30 series is there is no LEM / Match hybrid trigger, like there is for the USP.

P30L is the longslide, but It feels more just fullsize to me, bbl is 4.5" it's not a monster. The USP9T is gonna be a big, greating shooting gun.

4 of 5 of my HKs are the LEM variant, so I haven't spent much time with other HK triggers recently, sorry can't be much more useful.
>>
>>34227243
Tactical models differ in that they come with a match trigger, heavier recoil spring and TALLER suppressor sights. They are not match sights. In fact, I personally don't even like them or think they're good sights.

>You can very easily get a match trigger for P30s/USPs/P2000,
Only the USP has a match trigger option and the parts are not compatible. There is no match trigger option for the P2000 or P30.

>The biggest suck of the P30 series is there is no LEM / Match hybrid trigger, like there is for the USP.
The USP comes from the factory with heavy LEM only. You can mod it with lighter springs (12# hammer spring, lighter trigger return spring, lighter firing pin block spring), but the only difference between light LEM and so-called "match LEM" is a slightly lighter hammer spring (10-11# instead of 12#), which doesn't feel THAT different in practice from light LEM config. The P30, on the other hand, comes from the factory with a light LEM option, which is almost the same feel as the modded light or match LEM on a USP.
>>
>>34225689
Honestly get the 45 tactical. I love the 23, but it is very large and clumsy. It's extremely accurate and will survive a tank running over it, but I think the usp would has more finesse

fucking love this gun.

sure, it maybe over built for 9, but that means little felt recoil and the 4.25 inch barrel is plenty accurate.

it's also a 24 year old 1993 model, so the trigger is nice and broken in. very smooth to use
