Yup. My first stock 1911 did the same thing after about 5K rounds.

The pin type front sights are notorious for flying the fuck off, and that's why they went to the dovetail versions.

Take it to a smith and have him dovetail the slide and put in a real sight, and you'll never need to do it again.

Roommate has a performance center shield and a Colt 1911. We can't make a range trip without one of them losing the front sight (the shield just continuously launches its fiber optic insert downrange). Apparently some guns just do this.

The guys at my private range have talked me into starting pistol competition. I EDC a PPS, but obviously that's not going to fly.

Most of the guys shoot either CZs for SA/DA (they say they cost less to replace than the HKs) or lots of Glocks and now PPQs for the DAO guys. I didn't take to the Glock trigger so they recommended the PPQ, which I tried in the store.

They also pushed for a 5" barrel but fuck that thing looks silly huge.

If it's for competition you can look at the offerings CZ has, but I wouldn't buy a CZ personally because I'm an HKfag. The USP tactical is really nice too, but it's really pricy for someone just getting into competition. If you want to get into the market on the cheap side you can look at Canik TP9SFx. Some other options can be some race 1911s but those are all pretty much 1000+ or long slide glocks. If it was me I would go to the LGS and hold some of the different options and see if you can rent one to try. I'd probably go for the Canik if it's my first competition pistol. They aren't the best but it comes with a lot of options right out of the box to get you in the right direction. If I wanted something better made I would go for one of the CZs.

Walther is owned by Umarex which is a air gun company and they make licensed copies of certain guns. I'm pretty sure HKs are Walthers are made in different factory, they just have same proof mark.

So, funnily enough, I tried the Canik in the store, although not the fancy model you've linked. Trigger had a shorter reset I thought, but not quite as clean a wall, if that makes sense.

Any reason you push that brand, other than options. Frankly, the guys at the range piss all over anything but IPDA, so it's not like I'm going to be shoving a RDS on the top. Also, does being in Turkey mean I'm going to run into an issue getting replacement parts?

Cost. I wouldn't feel comfortable blowing on some gucci shit into a market/field I'm just getting into. I would prefer something to familiarize myself and then go for gucci shit later. The fancy model I linked to you has a pretty nice trigger, I actually tried one out in store and it's really light and crisp, better than the PPQ/VP9 imo(the SFx version) but it could have just been that particular gun. You won't run into issues with replacement parts, Century already has a bunch in stock.

HKs have a lot of interchangeability in their triggers which is really nice. I think just about any HK pistol will have DA/SA and some DAO variant. I think CZs DAO are no longer made.
