Will post pics in a min, but I think this shit is mildly corrosive. The gun has been in a case, and not stored in a humid place. I see some oxidation deposits in various places in the gun. I got most of them off, but I'll post them in a second.

Chinese sks btw

Clean your gun dumbshit.
>>
I plan to. I just figured since the ammo is "non corrosive" it wouldn't have been bad if I wasn't done right away.
>>
>>34203482
if u shoot some more bullets through the gun it will clean that out
>>
>>34203532
How often do you clean it?
>>
>>34203532
If you clean it after shooting, that does not appear.
>>
>>34203568
Usually after every shooting session. This time I didn't because I had somewhere to be, and I just put it off because I didn't think it would do anything. Everything looks like it's just surface, so I'm not worried.
>>
not op but i've never cleaned any of my guns nor do i have anything to clean them with. i've had my oldest ones for around 16 years with no cleaning. is there a good general gun cleaning kit or something i can buy that comes with everything?
>>
>>34203601
generic do everything kits tend to be pretty mediocre, then again its 10-20 bucks for one so its good enough. when the brush you use get wrecked you just replace it. a generic kit from walmart + boresnakes will handle anything.
>>
>>34203667
i have to buy the gun cleaner and oil seperately right? what kind should i buy? or can i just use wd40 or something?
>>

>>
>>34203888
I'll put money down that your storage conditions caused the rust, not the ammo. Keep a few of those silica gel packs inside when you store guns in cases long term, and give them an external coating of oil or grease.
>>
Op is a faggot for not cleaning his shit, but on that same note, I'm surprised that some Russia company doesn't make corrosive ammo for people that want to have it for storage reasons. Seeing as now it has a longer shelf life.
>>
>>34203601
use a bore snake to clean and lube the inside of your barrel
>>
>>34203471
OP how much time are we talking between shooting the gun and observing corrosion? Even smokeless powder residue can cause accelerated rusting in the right conditions, usually high humidity. The old rule of cleaning guns ASAP after shooting still is good advice, even in 2017.

>>34203601
>>34203690
Buy these things guy:
> Go get a cleaning kit
(The kind in a silver case), they're basic, but will come with everything you need to start you out.
> Can of Breakfree CLP
Cleaner, Lubricant, Preservative. This is pretty much a gold standard gun cleaner/oil, and used by most NATO countries on *everything*. Other products may do some things better, but you literally cannot fuck up using CLP.
>>34203715
Go watch a youtube video of how to take apart and clean the thing, seriously.

Not gonna lie, I shot my M44 Mosin around 6 months ago with corrosive surplus and still haven't cleaned it. I checked her out the other day and to my surprise there wasn't a single spot of rust in the bore.

>>
That green stuff isn't rust. It's oxidized copper. You're fine. Chinese sks's have chrome lined barrels. The bores can't rust.

>>
>>34203482
>>34203494
It's either corrosive or not, there's no in-between. Also, storing guns in cases is THE recipe for rust.
Maybe it's just your pictures, but I don't really see any rust in either of them. Maybe some rust in the gas block pic.
Also, maybe consider dropping a few bucks on a camera app that actually lets you control where it focuses etc. I use camera+ myself, gives a lot of control for focusing on tricky bore shots etc.

i dont mean like poorly sharpened, there's literally no bevel on mine
>>
>>34207261
Well, it's sole purpose is stabbing, not cutting. So it makes sense.
Having it sharp is an injury waiting to happen if you have to fold it out/in. Nobody will actually use it to cut things in a million years because it's on the end of a long and heavy gun.
>>
>>34204194
The ammo isn't really corrosive, it's more than it attracts moisture from the air and drags it onto the metal. If you're somewhere really dry I'd bet you could get away with that sort of thing once in a while.
>>
>>34207313
Right, I understand this.

Though having an edge would help it's cutting power
And stabbing

>That's like buying a car and never changing the oil

Not really. Not changing the oil means once the engine seizes up you're going to have to either spend thousands of dollars for repairs or buy a new car. Not cleaning your gun means eventually it will stop working and you'll just have to clean it to get it working again. Or maybe just squirt some oil in it.

just going on a dumb, irrelevant rant, but I was annoyed. My old Mini 14 shot steel case .223 just fine. But the Mini 30 is a picky fucker from what I've seen.

At least some brands of Brass Ammo is super cheap. Otherwise it's a fun gun.

That said I take minimal care of my guns, and the TulAmmo I shot out of it didn't seem to do any damage. If you left it in a case, that would've done it.

They have some prototypes on display in Russia. Theres no pictures of them in combat. All the sks faggots say "the troops that got them loved them!" But never are able to give a sitation of them ever being in combat.

With that said, they might have been used by some little unit somewhere for testing, but not much else.
>>
>>34207670
I heard having a dull "blade" helps the bayo not get stuck inside stuff. For example, it will be more likely to glance off bone such as a rib rather than bite into it as long as the point doesn't hit it straight on. This will have the result of the bayo being able to stab deeper into the chest and becoming easier to remove afterwards.
Could be all bullshit though.
