ITT: Argue about why wood is better than polymer or vice versa

For fun:

ones better for using and ones better for looking at.

I think wood is fine to use, I don't see much of a difference on my polymer gun besides weight and wood guns soak recoil a little better
>>
>>34200870
This to be honest

Polymer if you care about function or being tacticool

Wood if you care about classic aesthetics

I'd probably just take a metal folding stock over anything though
>>
>>34200846
Wood warps in high humidity and if it gets wet.
>>
>>34200846
DIY fag here, I personally thing wood is a bit more accessible to people who want to do home projects but plastic can be a bit easier to work with for complex builds because it can be melted a few times before it starts to lose strength. The only issue is color, plastic made from milk bottles looks like semen and gets weird if you introduce other colors to it.
>>
>>34200846
One is renewable, more durable, and looks nice as fug. Heavier, though.
>>
>>34201431
>more durable

Depends on the wood and plastic being compared, but generally I'd rate them about the same.

Modern mass-produced wood stocks are pretty shit.
>>
>>34200846
Wood gives x1.5 crit. Polymer x0.80 recoil. Crit all day.

Wood not only looks nicer, but you can brain someone will the stock

I don't know about others, but I prefer plastic pallets for most things. Wood pallets tend to break sometimes. Items are also easier to slide around on plastic.

Wood will shrink over time. Sadly I experienced this. The stock shattered. I ended up replacing most of my wood stocks with polymer ones for longevity. It's has been 10 years without any issues. As wood ages it drys out becoming brittle over time because it has lost elasticity. Just something to consider as your firearm ages.
>>
>>34200846
Holy fuck I hate plastic pallets. Such a fucking waste and I have no idea why the fuck plastic is cheaper than wood in fucking Canada.

Synthetics are stronger in than woods but looks like shit.
>>
>>34200846
Wood. Aesthetic reasons only.

Polymer is a superior material, but wood is fucking beautiful.
>>
>>34201968
Have you used any of those fancy GPS enabled pallets yet?
>>
polymer is a fucking blessing; it's lighter, just as durable and separating a fuckheug stack of 20 because my lazy managers won't use the walking stacker to cut the deck doesn't run as much risk of spilling my brains all over the floor than with wood.

wood gets pretty ugly after a while too; after enough use just gets plain unusable
>>
>>34200846
Wood and polymer both fucking suck.
Metal is better.

>Work in a smaller warehouse
>Loads and loads of plastic pallets from receiving shipments
>Any time we go to ship anything it's "Don't use the plastic pallets they can't handle the weight

THEY SEEM TO HAVE GOTTEN HERE JUST FINE

Meanwhile the fucking legs have snapped off the plywood pallet and it's going full leaning tower of pisa

Fuddlore extends to pallets

So many people talking about gun furniture in this thread and here I am thinking we were really starting a conversation about palletes
>>
I never even knew plastic pallets existed. That's amazing.

Wood looks nicer and seems robust enough for residential or commercial settings, but I wouldn't use it for serious industrial applications if I could help it.

There are aluminum ones too
