alright /k/ i've had enough

The ongoing war between me and the beavers in my backyard has escalated.

For some time now a bunch of beavers have been damming up the large creek (or small river?) in my backyard and flooding my garden.
I must have destroyed thier dam maybe 4 or 5 times by now hoping they would find someplace else but they just keep rebuilding.
But this time...They cut down my young apple tree my mother gave me. Ive held off killing them because frankly they are damn adorable and cute to watch swim and walk around. But ive had enough.
I need a battle plan /k/
A) continue the conventional warfare of destroying thier damn
B) Chemical warfare, i'm not sure how to go about doing this or if it's possible to poison the oversized rats but if there is a way let me know
C) go nuclear and shoot the damn bastards
D) Shock and Awe. Feign a retreat and allow them to complete thier damn dam and start construction of thier homes in the newly created pond. Maybe start a family. Then flood the place with flammable liquids and burn the whole place. A beaver holocaust if u will. give them ptsd so they run away and never come back.
E) call a professional to get them relocated

i will be doing some intelligence gathering later on /an/ about beavers (what they eat, behaviors, etc) but if u guys have any tips or ideas lemme know
>>
>>34200340
You should snipe them with a 50/cal kek
>>
>>34200360
i dont own one sadly

what would be a sufficient boolet to deal with a beaver?

would a 10/22 work just fine or do i have to bust out the 7.62x64r vepr/and or nugget
>>
Follow the goose ied guys example.

Let em build, apply tannerite, remove canuk rat.
>>

Maybe set up some Vietcong tier traps for beavers, that will teach those oversized rats
>>
Build a dam in front of their dam. This will emasculate them and cause them to go elsewhere.
>>
>>34200340

Beavers are actually very useful to the ecosystem.
>>
i don't know dude, i'd honestly leave them be and move the garden

now your mom's apple tree is part of their fucking house you keep tearing down, they're sending you a message. beaver's are cool but it takes respect to get respect

Shooting them is satisfying and helps but you'll never get them all. Buy a few Conibear traps and educate yourself in the basics of beaver trapping. I recommend you make beaver runs and sent mounds using the caster of previously killed beavers.
>sauce
My father traps beaver for the royal municipalities and often takes 70 a week.
>>
Get live traps and relocate them to state or national forest with a sufficiently deep stream.
>>
>>34200441
>they're sending you a message
im about to send them a fucking message

ive lets them off because they are cute and i generally don't mind animals but i was really hoping they would get the memo and go literally anywhere else but here

>>34200463
im the the state of georgia

ik u can hunt them legally but im not sure about the details

might only be able to use traps or something
>>
The best way to conquer beavers is to use your bushmaster on them.
>>
>>34200340
Wrapping your trees lower parts in chicken wire helped with my family when we lived on a lake with beavers. Shooting them also helped.
>>
>>34200480
Alright best thing is .22lr semi auto after compleltely destroy all traces of the dam ALL OF it NO TRACES second is the creek on your property? with your trees? if so put steel sheets on the trees so the beavers cant get wood to build their dams also this is a no brainer kill of them even the babies will come back soon for more tips

With simple wire snips cut a length of fence long enough to encircle the tree trunk while leaving a 3 – 6 inch gap between the wire mesh cylinder and the tree trunk. This gap allows for future trunk growth without girdling.

Kill all of them also. I MEAN IT ALL OF THEM

>there is no closed season on beavers in Georgia. Therefore, you may trap or shoot beavers year-round, day or night. To eliminate beaver problems, the most effective and efficient method is to kill beavers either by shooting or trapping.

>>34200340
You've got to fight bullshit with shit.

Make punji pits. AKA spike trap pits that consist of shit covered wood or even steel spikes. That way ever if they do survive initially, the infection from getting shit stabbed deeply into them will kill them. Also, for max shock and awe, blow up their dams with tannerite.
>>
>>34200528
source?
>>
>>34200340
Have you considered trapping them because your chances of ever seeing them are low
>>
>>34200340
Let it go mate

Beaver dams have a net increase in ecoproduction of a system.
Not only that, but they save land instead of destroy it

If your garden is so close to your crick that it gets flooded by a mere beaver dam, then in a few years it'll be washed away through erosion
>>
>>34200382

>>
I'd just leave them be. I think it would be cool to have a beaver dam and pond in your backyard.
>>

Beaver dams have tunnels. What predator likes tunnels? Snakes. Snakes like tunnels. Get yourself some venomous snakes and stuff them into the dam. There. Problem solved.

>>
>>34201320
>>34201340
It was a huge period of trial and error. I destroyed the nest before resorting to killing.

Then I fucking leased a friend's cat, who was absolutely useless.

I tried various types of bait, and found that I had to take shelled peanuts and built them into a pyramid, and then glue them to whatever surface. This way the birds would stay put and not simply pick up the food and fly a way.

I sold the house with the bases of the peanuts still glued to rocks, banisters, the walkway, etc.

You could have trained them to bring you money for peanuts

I love blue jays, don't get me wrong. They're smart as fuck and mean, but I honestly couldn't fucking take it any more.

Thinking about it now, two years later, puts me into a rage. I was so fucking tired of having auditory aids for 15 hours a day.

The destruction of my drought-resistant lawn, which took 35 hours and $1800 to renovate was the last straw. I went out and bought a 1400 FPS air rifle that day.

Central CA water rates were fucking me in the ass. I got some rebates for doing the lawn.

The funny thing is my neighbor was some 350lb woman who NEVER left her bed, which was in clear view of my master bedroom.

She was a hippie dippie loser who still had Obama '08 plastered all over her Prius in 2014.

She constantly yelled at her 17-18 year old daughter, to the point where I was red-faced and shaking from the noise at 1 AM. It doesn't help that I'm an alcoholic.

I fucking REAMED her a new asshole. She called the cops. Nothing happened because of my line of work. I bought 1800 ladybugs for like $20 and funneled them through her kitchen window.

There's no way she didn't know who it was.

I'll never forget her face when she saw me, drunk as a skunk, air rifle in hand, in my boxers, at like 4 AM laying out peanuts around my yard. Pretty sure she saw me beating the living shit out of the birds with a shovel too.

Traps are on station 24/7 and properly made beaver sets will catch nothing but beaver. So unlike shooting them, you'll actually kill them all, and unlike poison you won't kill everything else.

Destroying the dam doesn't help as you have already noticed. Beaver are relentless. They will never surrender.

hello OP this is Roger posting from my Asus laptop featuring a intel inside core i7 and the SonicMaster simulated stereo speaker setup

so listen obviously i know a lot of stuff about a lot of stuff for instance history and politics to name a few. some people dont realize that in adjunction to being military affairs i am also an expert at civilian recompense - and for me, that recompense is hunting

they say nohing tests the mantel of a man better than looking a goony two shoes in the eye and pulling the trigger. i was once at the range and the guy next to me came over and he said "how do you handle the kickback on such a large caliber, i would be afraid to even take that gun out of the case" and i said to him 1. i lift 2. i just imagine the fear 3. i really truly believe i am killing each time i fire. this is called killer intact and you need if you ever want to shoow

i have hunted all sorts of game on many species and through many hills and dale. beaver are a tricky animal. it is like a rat that lives in the water, with the tail of a duck bill and the snout of a pigmy sand shark. to catch a beaver, always use a bear trap, but this is a /k/ board, so the question is weapon

for that intent, i actually recommend a different weapon than a standard .222 rem handheld rifle. to kill the beaver you need to hit it dead on. repeatedly. and u need something that can entry and exit. u want something with a lot of ridges and baffles and it should be warm, and slide so gently when it gets a little wet. u want it to smell a bit musky. with a nice loose shell that is actually the softest part. but oh how hard it gets

IT'S A SEX JOKE! THE BEAVER IS UR MOM'S AND I HAVE SEX WITH IT WITH MY PENIS. THAT'S THE JOKE! AND SHE LOVES IT!
>>
>>34200340

call me a wimp but that photo is disturbing. those critters are intelligent enough to build there own shelter.

I would probably go with option (A) the lesser of the evils

(E) sounds good but more will always show up over time and you will just be wasting money at that point.

Just keep destroying their damn. all the other choice seem futile if more beavers keep showing up indefinitely.

Op here
Thanks for all the replies
After talking to my roommates about it we have collectively agreed on trapping them and trying to relocate. Maybe call a professional if need be. If that fails then they gave me the green light for operation cleaver beaver

Like I said I actually like beavers just not when they are fucking with my garden. Probably put them down in Dawson forest like another Anon suggested since it's in walking distance and has lots of rivers and streams they can happily dam up.

If drastic measures are required I'll be sure to update y'all.

Kinda sad about my apple tree but who now's maybe it will lead to negotiations and peace talks with the beavers.

I live VERY close to Dawson forest and I've gone hunting and camping there
I'm gonna be honest the place is definitely wierd. I'm close friends with the local sheriff and even he says stay away. Not just because of ur druggies and shady people but because several people have straight up gone missing there or random bodies found there(probably due to it being a good body dumping place).

Then there's the local fokelore about two headed deer and other mutated animals due to the radiation. There are still radiation detectors around there and several areas that are closed off. I've played around in the underground tunnels before and it's really fucking spooky. An entire underground concrete complex completely sealed off and if u approach it rangers or police will immediately escort you away.

It's a nice stalker experience place

These are not mine but show the state of the place rather well and just how spooky it is. There are a couple of buildings still there like the pump station and stuff.
>>
>>34203177
Inside

To get inside you have to either dig a hole or find one someone else dug

I've been twice in two different areas, one which was mostly flooded and didn't get to go very far and the other u climb down a latter in the pump station.

Any other Georgia fags know of some spooky abandoned places to snoop around?
>>
>>34203195
Yeah, fuck that. Only "stalker challenge" where a gun would be essential kit, at least for me.

Even if you ignore all the spooky shit it looks sketchy as hell.

Reminds me of the time I saw an albino deer. It was just before a full moon, and it walked to the edge of the woods, I was watching it from across the field. When it got farther out the moonlight hit it and it was almost blindingly bright. I had no idea albino deer even existed at the time, although it makes sense that they do, so at the time I was thoroughly freaked the fuck out.

So yeah, no spooky forests for me, shit gets really weird really fast.

Basically the air Force and Lockheed were trying to build a nuclear powered aircraft so the Georgia Nuclear Aircraft Laboratory, also known as AFP No. 67, or Air Force Plant 67 was made to test that possibility.

"The site was used for irradiating military equipment, as well as the forest to determine the effect of nuclear war, and its effects on wildlife. The area was closed in 1971 and acquired by the city of Atlanta for a second airport, but its topography was determined to be ill-suited for an airport. Documents explaining what went on at the site remain highly classified, and the entrance to the underground portion of the facility has been buried. The only objects left above ground were the concrete foundations on which the buildings and reactors were placed."

Basically they had a big reactor in a underground chamber that they could then lift up and suspend on cables above the ground and just fucking blasted the surrounding forest with radiation to see what happened.

Sorry about the shitty map I can't find the full size for some reason

If you really think about it

Beavers are really remarkable. They have different designs of dams depending on the strength of the river. For a stronger river they use curved dams just like we do and for weaker ones they just go straight across. The created ponds provide homes for many other animals and becomes the equivalent of cities for the beavers with many families building thier own lodges within the calm waters created by the dams.

Hell the largest beaver dam was just recently discovered by using Google Earth. It's 3000ft long and can be seen from space.
That's like the beaver equivalent of the great Wall of China.

Op here
I went out and got some twigs of aspen trees because I've read that those are beavers favorite food.
I'm hoping to give them a peace offering and then maybe draft up a non aggression pact with the local beaver population. I've protected my fruit trees with chicken wire. Because getting a specialist to relocate the beavers is actually quite expensive I'm thinking I might just redesign my irrigation system to work with the beavers but I'm not sure exactly how yet.But idk I feel like in doing this the beavers have won. I'll let them build thier dam.

Sorry if I let u down /k/ I just don't think I have it in me to genocide those beavers. I saw a dead one on the side of the road today and it made me a bit sad.

I'm thinking of maybe stocking the newly created pond with some fish so I get something out of it.

They are remarkable yes. Beavers are known as a Keystone species. Meaning they are among the few animals that actively change their environment.

One downside of this is that it is inherently unsustainable. While beavers will use whatever wood is available for construction they exclusively eat Poplar.

It doesn't take long for a family of Beaver to remove all poplar in their habitat. Requiring them to move on before long. And it will take the area generations to regrow the poplar to the point where they can settle again.

Good or bad depending on how you view the lasting changes they make to the area. But it's undeniable that they improve the biodiversity of their habitat for pretty much all species in it.

One option OP has is to identify and protect the poplar. Ring the bottoms with chicken wire to prevent them being felled. This would starve out the beavers and encourage them to move to a new area.
