-CAMO GENERAL-
Post your favorite camos, the best camo for different environments, coolest looking, ect.

For me, the most interesting new camo I have come across is the Hyperstealth US4CS, pic related. It borrows heavily from CADPAT, but when paired against multicam in most woodland and grassland environments, its a clear winner.

Also good discussions for this thread:

Woodland vs. Multicam (Or Multicam Tropic)

MARPAT vs. First Lite Fusion (New camo)

Multicam vs. ASAT (another interesting one)

Also, what is your opinion of black camos like the new multicam black? Do we need something like this or is straight black enough?

Black "camos" are pretty much worthless. Law enforcement wears that shit for identification or intimidation, but it shouldn't ever be considered important for concealment. Hell, urban camouflage in general is pretty much bullshit. Some experimenting by the USMC and Army demonstrated that it just doesn't work. People tend to consider urban areas to be gray, but the information out there suggests otherwise. Urban camo and black camo is just joke-tier memeing.

The best urban color is brown:

US4CES is another digital pattern that performs similarly to MARPAT. The benefit of the line was is that it is more effective under NIR and features a multi-environment "transitional" pattern. Other than that, it's comparable to other existing patterns. It was tested by the US Army. They found that it performed okay, but looked too much like MARPAT and they were still looking for a single uniform to replace UCP.

First Lite Fusion is another run of the mill hunting pattern. Similar to the stuff made by Sitka, Under Armour, Cabelas, OptiFade, Natural Gear, and many others. It's got a really different color palette and it's area specific.
>>
>>34188876
It's AOR. A Naval Special Warfare pattern.
>>
>>34188964
So it sounds like the US4CES is still ahead of the rest due to the transitional pattern as well as better NIR. Am I missing something or is it safe to say this is a very good pattern?

The Lite Fusion looks like a well thought out camo. Whats to stop this from military application?
>>
For those interested in the process of making and testing a new camo, read this article put out by the Hyperstealth company so it may be slightly biased but the science is still accurate. The article goes into good depth of discussion, and there are multiple parts

Hahahaha, good luck.
Guy Cramer is notoriously jewy with his patterns and sued the manufacturers of ATACS for the crime of looking at his website before releasing their camo...
There is a very, very small amount of actual hyperstealth camo out there. Mostly DECEPTEX and SPEC4CE commercial fabric, that's the rarest shit.
US4CES is out there and available, mostly the transitional pattern adopted by the Mexican marines. Finding a seller in Mexico is difficult, however, and expensive. Original test articles of US4CES (read: anything except the transitional pattern) are about as rare as any other US Army test article. (read: fucking impossible to find)

Source: Guy who owns US4CES
And yes, it does work under IR just as advertised.

But how do they perform concealment wise? Looking for some insight from someone who owns it
>>
>>34190274
I own both lithuanian and Finnish M05, and ESTDCU.

Earlier generation ESTDCU had almost lime base green, so it's pretty poor for boreal forests compared to cadpat. ESTDCU also has brighter "red" splotches compared to cadpat's more brown red.

Finnish M05 works pretty well, with darker greens more sparsely scattered throughout the pattern with a earth colored base works far better IMO than the base greens of cadpat and estdcu. When you step outside in places like estonia and finland and look at the ground, you'll see more mossy greens and lots of browns, where most trees have their foliage up higher than soldier-running-around-the-woods-level.

I personally think lithuanian M05 works even better in areas where the foliage is lower to the ground than both cadpat and estdcu. I understand the theory behind digital patterns entirely, but I believe, from my experience, "natural" patterns work better in less dense woodland environments, and digital patterns work better in more dense and arid environments.

Like, desert MARPAT and AOR1 work rather well, as they have a wider spectrum of colors more evenly distributed throught the pattern compared to the trash - albeit aesthetic trash - that are the six and three color desert patterns.
>>
>>34190406
I'm not him, but I'm the other guy that has a set. It works ok familam. In my experience, the pattern is too large to be really effective, even in it's "ideal" environment.

It has the exact same problem woodland LATPAT has. Google it, and google pictures of the latvian landscape and compare. It may have perfect colors for the environment, but the occurrence of, size, and placement of the colors is all wrong.

The fuck kinda high horse am I on? If it's such a damn common pattern, then go ahead and find me another place I can get it.
Oh yeah, Hyperstealth isn't selling their fabric anymore because they're trying to focus on some literally impossible scifi bullshit. The only way to get any pattern from them is to sign a licensing agreement and buy hundreds of sets of uniforms.
If the only way to get your hands on a pattern is through a custom licensing agreement with the company that makes it, or to buy it from a country where it's illegal to sell it, I'm not acting shitty for saying it's fucking rare. You said it yourself, too.

Na, red light fades the fasted in earths atmosphere due to its wavelength. It is hard to see dirty red colors in low light conditions. Apparently most mammals can't see red, and those that can have a fixed wiring in their visual cortex to filter it out and replace it with other colors if needed.
So some Nazi tech figured if he'd make a camo with dirty red patches, human brain would miracle it into an all terrain pattern.
War was over before that came into service, the Swiss bought the patent and the machines and made the pattern.
Crazy thing, it works, shit is hard to spot in a dark forest. It works better than the new Swiss Alpenflage which is the same pattern without red.

Little know fact, Swiss BDU's hav hiden straps in high vis yellow, soldiers are required to pull the straps to visible mode before they take their gear off in order to find it again.
If the high viz yellow is missing on your Alpenflage, just replace it with ACU, it does a great job of standing out against pretty much every background there is.
>>
So is Alpenflage a meme camo then? I dont do camo.

It works well enough, it just looks pants on head retarded from up close and it is (was) ridiculously cheap on the milsurp market.

When you look at it, it is like the last pattern you'd choose, because the red in camo is counter intuitive. However, Nazi space magic works and Goblin made stands for high quality.

Kryptek is objectively garbage from a concealment standpoint. Way too much black, in like every variant.

There's a fine line in camouflage theory between the benefits from natural shape based patterns and digital patterns. Kryptek tears up a part of that line to 90 degrees, and sits on it like a faggot on an upside down bar stool.
>>
>>34190368
It's actually not. In green months it's really concealable, at least with the FG.

It seems like for forest environments, a light brown/faded green will do the trick of blending in...

As a native Texan, it could work quite well. The areas in these pics look like they could have been shot near Mineral Wells, I know of alot of land that looks alot like the scenes in the pics. The pattern is quite interesting, as it seems to go for a "rock" blend and texture rather than a forest/grass/leafy blend. I am intrigued. However there are alot of parts of Texas that dont have the rocky outcroppings shown, but rather grassland, creekbottom, and scrub brush environments. Depending on where you live I would say its a great camo.
>>
What are some good commercial camo patterns that arent mossy oak or bubba tier?
>>
>>34212447
Its also interesting because it borrows from the well established big splotches of woodland, whilst integrating micro textures inside the blotches. Do you have any pics of it in a different setting?

I agree, just needed a second opinion. The PigTac website has a map where this camo is effective and most of Texas was in there. Didn't know if it was just marketing because of Texas' reputation with guns, hunting, militias, and the type of people prone to buying this stuff.

My team and I are trying to standardize and we're thinking this might be best.
