Does the Marine Corps still issue 1911's to officers? It says on wiki that the marines still use 1911s but I only see marines with berettas unless we are talking about special forces.

>>
>>34183718

this is actually incorrect, they switched to the M67 (pic related)
>>
>>34183708
MARSOC issues M45s, but they're apparently experiencing problems with the frames and slides breaking and (at least from what I remember) they were looking for a replacement.
>>34183718
This comes from a retarded ass statement from some stupid fuckwad guy over their arms procurement program being a Glocktard and saying "we ought to just go buy Glocks because lolGlocks"

It's BS, but it's somewhat unnervingly close to reality but still not quite a reality (thank god) BS.
>>
>>34183840
MARSOC does use G19's tho

>MARSOC issues M45s, but they're apparently experiencing problems with the frames and slides breaking and (at least from what I remember) they were looking for a replacement.

>$1200, relatively brand new 1911s
>Frames and slides cracking

Who made these guns? I want to know so that I never accidentally buy from them.
>>
>>34183882
They were made by Taurus

>Does the Marine Corps still issue 1911's to officers?
no

> It says on wiki that the marines still use 1911s
only a very select few

>but I only see marines with berettas
thats the standard issue

>unless we are talking about special forces.
there is not a single special forces soldier in the marine corps
>>
>>34183835
That's all a real marine would ask for. A rifle a as many mags and grenades as he can carry.
>>
>>34183708
No. Mostly just the pistol team and sometimes MARSOC get them.
>>
>>34183882
Colt surprisingly
>>
>>34183882

Colt

>>
>>34183860
only because they are cheap, most special forces bring their own sidearms. The glocks just sit on a shelf
>>
>>34183882
Colt. it's not the manufacturer's fault, the 1911 is just outdated.
>>
>>34184002
>most special forces bring their own sidearms

Citation needed.
>>
>>34183708
They have 1911s in the armouries but theyre for competitions and shit.
>>

This^

Everyone thinks sf is a fucking free for all on loadout. Im not sf but im willing to bet you do generally use what the team requires you to. And the DoD has ample money to afford a scar or whatever gucchi shit that operater needs to fulfill his role in the team.

not him and i dont know much about this or other special operation units, but chris kyle wrote in his booK:

>In 2004, I bought a Springfield TRP™ Operator®, which used a .45 caliber round. It had a 1911 body style, with custom grips and a rail system that let me add a light and laser combo. Black, it had a bull barrel and was an excellent gun - until it took a frag for me in Fallajuh. I was actually able to get it repaired - those Springfields are tough
