hey /k/, this summer im going to be visiting some family and im going to be getting a gun that was promised to me when i was little. I have no idea what its going to be though. I have experience with guns but this will be my first time owning one and its one that will mean a lot to me.

What are some ways to keep it nice over time? So, i guess maintenance general thread?

Work smarter, not harder. Get a can of ballistol, some cheap toothbrushes, and a bore snake. Rod cleaning is for assholes with too much time on their hands.

If it's old or really nice come back and ask us again. Certain guns require special treatment and maintenance.
