Tube based night vision usually has a front cover with a small pinhole in it that allows for daytime use without damage.

If it's one of the ATN digital video night scopes than it might just be fine without it. I've never used one of those kind, but should be new enough to have an available manual.

Its the gun as a whole, the wood is heavy, the reciever has real thick walls and the barrel is fairly heavy.

I personally like heavy guns, it reduces recoil, and makes the gun much easier to aim when shooting without any sort of rest. That being said im a really big guy with 4 kids and thus always have a kid or two hanging off me when im not at work, when im working im constantly picking up shit like pic related. An extra 20 pounds or so ontop of my gear never has bothered me.
