assuming this question is coming from a place of complete ignorance:
What would be the ideal roles in a 5-7 man 'operator' squad. The squad's main purpose is to be versatile.
7 guys with guns. Some of them have different guns
>>34175103
>Team leader
>Communications
>Marksman
>Support/overwatch
>Combat engineer
>Medic
>FNG
Now here is the plot twist, all 7 of your guys should be able to fill any of those positions at any given time.
now
Take a platoon, shoot 3/4 of the platoon excluding the captain and lieutenant. There you go.

Which one is it, 5 or 7 and what is the area of operation
>Marksman
>Sig
>Gunner
>Commander
>Grenadier
>JTAC/FO guy
>Engineer guy
>>34175103
>versatile
Bring a platoon.
>>34175156
>excluding the captain and lieutenant.
>Conformed never served.
Shoot the officers first.

7 man squad is skeleton for Marines. I think the Army does 2 team squads tho
Ideally 3 teams of 4. Given a 7 man restriction you'd do 3-4 with a SAW Gunner and grenadier on each team. Perform the mission with 0 overwatch. Your restrictions.
5 men is a fire team, not a squad.

Fun fact:
The Swedish armed forces manual sometime in the 70s had to be rewritten due to a poorly written section regarding how to engage an enemy unit.
"Always kill the leader first" was interpreted differently by the conscripts than the person writing the manual had anticipated.
A blankfire exercise started with the whole platoon magdumping their own officers and NCOs.

This is just pure gold!
Imagine being there!

It was of course just a really bad excuse by bored conscripts on their last major exercise before getting out.
But it did end up with the manual rewritten to say "Always kill the enemy leader first".

This x2
Switch out the breachers for snipers when doing observation or recon.
Weapon specialist will carry the heavy weapons.
