Hey /k/ I have some stupid questions.
1; I heard that when firing a semi automatic gun, you have to wait a few seconds between each trigger pull. Is this true, or can I just keep pulling the trigger as fast as I am able? Will rapidly firing without pause cause inaccuracy or damage to the gun or anything? Does it matter if rifle versus pistol?
2; Is there a safe way to store ammo? Like can the gunpowder ignite if it's stored in heat or sunlight? Or can it get damaged/neutralized if stored in damp environment?
Thank you! I'm sorry for being an idiot about guns

Can't tell if serious question or not
You can pull the trigger as fast as you can
Rapid fire will not reduce mechanical accuracy, you may however see a detriment to the practical accuracy that involves you as the shooter and where the muzzle is actually pointing for each shot
You will not damage the gun. Modern firearms barring a few poor examples or a serious mechanical failure will not fire out of battery. Certain shooters may be able to actually "outrun" a trigger but the end result is a dead trigger. Cycling the action will reset and you are good to go again. It is not damaged if this occurs.
Obvious question here is "how hot". I have no idea what the effects of sunlight are, then again that involves you storing loose powder more or less exposed to the elements which will degrade it rapidly
Any reasonable storage conditions a house with regards to temperature are fine
Yes damp can ruin gunpowder
The big killer to powder or potentially primers is temperature swing perhaps in a vehicle. Gunpowder stored indefinitely at 100 degrees or 30 degrees will more or less remain useable, but something in a black vehicle that might reach 140 in the sun in the summer and reach 50 at night may start to accumulate condensation and other ill effects of temperature swing can render it inert

Thank you
>Cycling the action will reset and you are good to go again. It is not damaged if this occurs.
This means racking the slide or charging handle, correct?
>gunpowder will degrade from dampness, hot vehicles, etc
Is this a concern for the gunpowder/primer in unfired rounds (or bullets or cartridges or whatever the proper term is), or only loose gunpowder? Say I leave a box of 9mm rounds in a black vehicle, will those rounds be rendered inert?
>>34174320
Yes it's a semi auto, meaning you must cycle the slide in between shots
If it was full auto this would not be necessary. You can see why this would be illegal
>>34174320
On a semi-automatic firearm, the action will cycle itself every time you fire a live round.
Ammunition is safe to store just about anywhere, besides EXTREME temperature or moisture.
>dont store your ammo underwater (some ammo is even ok to get wet like this)
>dont store your ammo in the oven
Back of the car is fine.
>>34174327
dont listen to this cuck. in a full automatic you just need to hold the trigger, semi you will need to pull the trigger for every round, but the action cycles itself.
>>34174320
>is this a concern in unfired rounds?
No the brass acts as a natural heatsink. This means that the powder inside is protected from the fluctuations in temperature. That being said always always test a few of your rounds before relying on them for carry. Because conditions may change in a single day, I like to have a bucket of sand that I can safely test my rounds into, usually in the morning before work. This bucket of sand is also good for defrocking your pistol. Because all mechanical items can fail it is best to drop your magazine and then "clear" your handgun by discharging into the designated decocking bucket. They sell plastic buckets at Home Depot that will work very well

>never store your ammo in an oven
THIS
Op this unsafe storage will cause what is referred to in the gun community as a "cook off". After about 15 minutes at 300 degrees, Fahrenheit not Celsius, the rounds will begin to turn a golden brown, at this stage the bullets will begin to fire off indiscriminately! Always store bullets in a cool dark location away from kitchen appliances, such as a pantry or "ammo closet"
