We all know AK's and AR's are the top two most popular rifles, but what's the third most popular?
Pic unrelated, but looks like Google has settled the great debate.
Most produced rifles:
- AK
- AR
- G3
- FAL
In the world or amongst civilians?

Civilians in the US
I would say >>34154379 is accurate for around the world, if both the AKM and AK74 are the same category.
Nugget
I always see m1as and mini 14s along side ars at the majority of lgs i go to. Then again even my fudd grandpa has an sks. 10/22 is above those 3 if you count it.
>>34154462
I don't know, FALs seem to turn up more often than G3s
>>34154462
>AR
>10/22
>870
Just guessing here, but these seem to be the most common.
An FAL was the right arm of the free world (basically NATO's standard rifle) for a good few decades, so it's what I'd put as the next most common.
Otherwise, moist nugget for overall production, SKS for a very common self-loading rifle, etc.
>>34154369
Worldwide would probably be the FAL, a fuckton of those things are still in service all throughout the third world.
I'd say random buttfuck Remchesterby 5-round hunting rifles and no-name pump shotguns are up there for most common civilian arms.

I can haz Molotov Cattail?
>>34154560
870 isnt a rifle
>>34154379
what about the 37 million mosins?
>>34154369
It'd be a fight between G3 and FAL for bronze.
I'd side with the FAL but that's just me...
>>34155768
Only count selective fire bro, sorry.
>>34155713
What if its rifled?
>>34154464
He said, posting a picture of an SKS
>>34158287
Yes, yes, you're very clever.
There are way more G3s out there than FALs. More countries made them for longer (some places still make them) more countries have them as a service rifle and they're cheaper to make iirc.
>>34154369
actually look at the website ma friend
>"Just looking at the side-by-side comparison, one has to give the nod to the AR-15/M16"
>>34154369
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-produced_firearms
It's wiki, but it's about what I'd expect. AKs, Mausers, Mosins, Lee-Enfields, then SKS's.
>>34158287
Does it shoot a slug or a bullet?
>>34154369
Some .22 gun
>>34155768
There's easily more than 37 million ARs in the US alone, and AKs are close to 100 million.
>>34160646
And G3's and FAL's, even combined, are well under 37 million. Hell, I'd bet M1's and 1894's beat G3 and FAL production numbers.
>>34154379
but Fals are nowhere near the most popular rifle or even in the top 5. Theyre too uncommon and expensive these days.

The estimates I've heard are in the ballpark of 8-12 million.

No way in hell.
>>34161790
>8-12 million.
That few? I'm honestly surprised by that considering how many countries use US surplus, and literally everyone I know has an AR in their house. I'm talking even normies that only own like 3 guns, one is an AR.
>No way in hell.
Oh yeah, even >>34159520 says the top end estimates are 150 million, although that's probably a little optimistic.
