/k/ newfag here. I've been to the shooting range a few times and had some fun with a few handguns, but I want to buy one eventually and use that instead.
What would be a good, reliable and not so expensive handgun that is fun to shoot at the range but also has enough stopping power to fuck with intruders?

Shields are cheap right now, it's a decent basic bitch Sub-300 9mm (after rebate).
Other than that, GP100 for revolvero. Can't go wrong with a .357 for fucking an intruder up, and .38spl is always pretty cheap and works with all .357 magnum revolvers.
