Get some safety training first. As for the likelihood of getting these, the VEPR is doable but you're going to need to pay a $200 tax and register it as a SBS in America. As for the G36C "thing", good luck. Most privately owned G36s are either .22s or expensive converted SL8 rifles. Other countries have the HK243, but they usually aren't compact. And HK anything is expensive. And then there are laws. Lots of laws.

The UMP existed to lower the cost of the MP5, make it lighter.

Also I think that it brings some more modern features like, being able to load the gun without losing a round. Never held one though. But I've had a MP5SD and as much as I like it, bring it into this century isn't a bad thing.

I did not know this, I was under the impression that mp5s only cost LEOs like $6-900.
I understand the modernity of it, and the light weight, those were the reasons I have wanted to do a USC conversion for awhile now, but I thought a big selling point was 45 chambering as well.
