Would /k/ scrap for metals on a military bombing range?
Just watched this documentary, crazy guys out there.

That sounds scary as fuck, think I'll pass.
Is there much copper? Shits selling like market crashed pricing hotcakes over here. I got 1200 for scraping a copper bathtub.
>>34133476
It's mostly aluminum from unexploded ordinance, but also brass shell casings.
>>34133459
It's actually Mad Max: America Reloaded level out there.
Scrapping is such a shit way to have something resembling a life. Really doesn't surprise me some scrappers would risk something as stupid as trying a bomb range.

That sounds scary as fuck, think I'll go.
Well I was a Combat Engineer so I could probably do it and not die. Shame there's no bomb ranges nearby, just some nuclear waste dump sites.
>>34133560
I don't think being a combat engineer gives you any protection from a jet dropping a 500lb on you.
>>34133454
I would.
I've also done some UXO training to safely work on artillery ranges as a contractor.
>>34133582
that's what you think

I was EOD, we regularly had to deal with range rats hurting themselves, nearly hurting themselves, or creating an unsafe situation.
It's just not worth it; one of those days a rat ends up stepping on a golden goose egg or picking up a live 2.36inch Bazooka round or some shit.
>>34133454
>Scrapping
>On an ordinance range
Well if that doesn't sound like the most suicidal shit for the tiniest of profits, then I don't what is.
>>34133582
You probably also think chicks can't have dicks. Which shows what you "know."
There was a civilian contractor that was scrapping inert bombs off a navy range. They got him for theft of gov property. Jail time.
>>34133590
>a live 2.36inch Bazooka round
I bought one on ebay once
>>34133590
>golden goose egg
is that some kind of bomblet?
>>34133590
This particular range is also very close/up against the Mexican border so a lot of smugglers go through it. Not only are you risking being blown up, but also getting shot by the US Military, Mexicans, or fellow scrappers.
>>34133680
They mention in the documentary that cluster bombs are used extensively, could be from one of those.
>>34133695
that was my guess, just not familiar with the slang.

EODfag
You've still got 2.36" on ranges?
Only live one I've seen in the last 20years was a rusty lump in a village on Guadalcanal in the Solomons.
Heaps of goldtops.
