AR-15 failure thread

My EagleArms (division of Armalite) Eagle-15 has developed a very dangerous habit of double firing about every 3rd shot I take. It didn't have this problem before but, I've just returned from the range where I found that when pulled the trigger it would go bang just the one time, but when i released the trigger, a second bang would occasionally occur. I'm super pissed about this. I've function checked it and taken it apart and done all but wrap caution tape around it. it appears to be just very, very sensitive on reset of the trigger. If you don't rapidly release the trigger and do so very smoothly, it tends to release the hammer again.

Anyone have these sorts of issues?

(I've sent an email to EagleArms and called the Cabela's where I bought it already. I'm going to send it to them to look at ASAP)

Maybe, I dunno, pay $25 for a new FCG and see how that goes?
>>

This.
The hook on your disconnector is probably worn down or just crappy.
>>
Yeah if it's covered with warrsnty just send it back and have the fix it.
>>
>>34130211
>>34130264
Any way to test to see if that's all it is?

>>34130268
Trying to send it back now

great day for a range day, too. had to head home and panic for a while, thinking i somehow created a machine fun. Ugh
>>
>>34130307
Armalite just had a recall. IIRC it had the most to do with their eagle arms guns, they have a serial # check to see if your rifle is subject to the recall

>>34130211
cant find a new fire control group for anything like $25. where are you finding that?

FUCK. Ok, well at least I found the issue. My rifle needs to be recalled. I tried typing in my serial number into their website data base and it said I was good to go. But when I did their recommended safety check to see if my rifle was effected, I can see clearly that it is. very not safe.

I'm making a rage face now. ugh!!!!

video related. and pick also fucking related.
>>
>>34130584
Yea i plugged mine in (not eagle arms but armalite) said it was good but still performed the check they demo in the video. Mine were alright but I wouldn't mind getting the 20% off they're offering as an inconvenience apology lol
>>
Sounds like hammer follow from a bad disconnector. Definitely unsafe, it could fire out of battery.

Should be GTG with a new FCG. Maybe take the opportunity to upgrade to a good one.
If you don't want to wait on Armalite to fix it, tell them to send you replacement parts and look on youtube how to do it - it's not very hard. If you upgrade, you can go super ez-mode and get a drop-in trigger pack and be done with it in literally two minutes.

OP's picture is not an AR-15 Failure. It is a Safety Harbor Firearms .50 BMG upper conversion.

Unless the bolt is in the locked position the firing pin cannot portrude far enough to hit the primer.

You're 33 and you expect them to do anything more than just fix the problem, let alone even google where to get a new FCG? How the fuck have you survived in the modern world?

Me thinks he thought you meant a BCG by FCG. If not then fuck man FCG have always been cheap if you're just going with a standard no frills milspec
>>
>>34131320
But he said fire control group.
>>
>>34131347
and i don't think op understands
OP, you fucking idiot, a fcg is a trigger group. milspec ones are hella cheap
>>
>>34131379
I'm no the OP tho, I'm the one who liked the $28 FCG.
>>
I bought my first AR during the panic from some dude on armslist, and double fired like that.

I didn't know how to put a parts kit together yet, so I put in a one piece trigger, and put the "bad" trigger group away in a plastic baggy.

Years later after I'd leaned how to build a lower I got it out to look at the parts, and there was no disconnector spring in the bag. I think he just never installed one.

I know, that's why I said "OP, you fucking idiot"
