How fucking hard is it to tell a good gun from a bad gun?

If its got steel or wood, its good
If its got lacquer or plastic its tragic.
If its in a caliber you know, great
If its in a caliber you don't, trash it

Honestly, we figured out all this shit a long time ago. There really isn't much room for improvement.
>>
>>34124443
afaik bullpup triggers are solved by machining things finely and lapping the bearing surfaces of the push-rod (improper term probably) between the actual trigger and the trigger you squeeze

looks to me like maybe the lynx's trigger might just attach to a rod that goes below the ejection port and to the side of the magwell but thats just a guess based on geometry and what makes sense to me

Owner of a 300 Win Mag here, I concur. I have a ground-up build using a Savage action and I really don't know if I'd do it differently were I to make it again, but the cost of a box of factory has really knocked the wind out of me recently.

Good thing it's not too picky when reloading.

Not true. A FAL made in SA most likely, with replaced parts that come from all over the place, and with no markings besides a single serial number (so they couldnt be traced back to SA, since SA wasnt supposed to be giving rhodies support due to international pressure)

Honestly FALs are aesthetically pleasing but not very practical. Generally it's heavy, unwieldy, low capacity, overpowered, expensive, and reliability isn't great. They'd make great civvie guns though.

FALs have a great length of pull, excellent ergonomics, and weigh within a pound of an AR-10.

I dont know what the fuck you're talking about "unwieldy", sure they're long but they're *battle rifles*, not carbines, and of BRs they're some of the most ergonomic and easy to use. A modern para FAL is just as customizable in term of accessories as any other platform, too, and as light as practically any other 7.62 battle rifle.

They're perfectly serviceable in terms of reliability as long as youre not being a karl and dunking it in the mud constantly, and honestly the design tradeoff of the tilting bolt was done for ease of manufacture at the cost of the gun being slightly inconsistent with accuracy/lockup and being picky about what ammo you feed it (no steel case, for example). If i were a small country wanting to domestically produce rifles, no doubt i'd choose the FAL.

The shortstroke gas piston of the FAL is softer than the longstroke of a Vepr .308, and is WAY easier to shoot than the harsh blowback and DI of the G3 and AR-10, respectively.

The magazine capacity? 20 is standard for 7.62realfuckinnato. G3's, AR-10s, and M14's all were designed with 20 round mags. Only battle rifle where 20 rounders are uncommon is the SCAR-H, which comes with 30 rounder mags if i'm correct. Modern aftermarket 50 and 100 round drum/beta mags are made for the FAL, as well as some fucking awesome PMAGs to replace the aging cold war era magazines.

The FAL is a fucking great battle rifle. I dont know where you got these ideas. Her only flaw is the tilting bolt causing inconsistent lockup and DMR-unfriendly accuracy when using anything but match grade ammo and cleaning often. And of course, the slightly more finnicky reliability when dirty (which every cold war era gun has, besides the AR-10 due to its sealing).

Do not bully Faru-chan, she is a good rifle especially considering the age of her design.
>>
>>34131101
Pasta?
>>
>>34130358
A counterweight piston the same weight as the bolt/piston. basically makes recoil null at the cost of making the gun slightly heavier.
>>
>>34131140
Pasta? you mean sauce? pic is Faru-chan from the manga Upotte.

Or are you saying what i've just posted is going to become a copypasta of rhodieboos fervently defending their aged and somewhat obsolete rifle platform?

>>

Yea that anon is autistic FAL has always been a good option as far as battle rifles goes.

When I read the 20 rnd mag thing I had to do a double take. Its the standard. I prefer a 20 when it comes to my AR10 cause frankly anything larger just starts to weigh down the rifle when stacking that much 7.62 in it. Idk maybe I'm just a weakling but a drum mag would fucking kill me after holding it up long enough.

What level of difficulty are we talking for all the modifications? As far as I can tell, I just need an extended, threaded barrel, custom sights, and a slide lock. The slide lock seems to replace the slide catch, so all I need to do is pop out the slide catch and pop in the slide stop, right? It also looks like another latch point was milled into the slide for the stop to interact with, but that's not a huge operation for a gunsmith, I would imagine.

It's designed for one of those ALICE pistol belts. See the metal grommets around the belt? You bend the belt and then hook in the metal things on the holster/your machete sheath. It stays secure but is easy to take off (though you have to take the belt off)

It actually worked precisely as intended. It rendered negligable felt recoil of the 5.45 round. There are also videos of guys mag dumping full auto with them and having pretty tight spreads on target, considering. Thanks t got dropped for cost reasons, like basically everything Russia has ever made that was great. I imagine Western powers never developed anything similar because of doctorine regarding fully automatic fire (where the system is most beneficial) and the already minimal recoil of 5.56 not really necessitating reduction. The final cost to ship a T-72, with DSHKM, rubber treads, licensing, and background checks, it's about 100,000-125,000. Of course, for this you're getting a fully functional MBT with all the extras and a company that has a literal factory full of parts that they can ship you.

As a battle rifle its considered wieldy, but as a modern rifle it's unwieldy. Never said they weren't ergonomic or easy to use. It's as simple as an SKS.
inb4 someone else get's mad "YOU FECKING AUTIST HOW DARE YOU COMPARE MUH RIGHT ARM OF FREE WORLD TO COMMIE JUNK" lel.
SCAR-H rifles use standard 20 round modified FAL mags.

I stand by what I said. You misunderstood what I said as an attack on the FAL as a battle rifle. Battle rifles as a concept were obsolete when the FAL came out, but I know the flame war that will ensue if I go further into that lol.
