I'm looking for a 1000 yard bolt action rifle chambered in .308 for less than $1000. I'm currently looking at Tikkas and Savages, what are some other rifles to look for?

might as well look in the >>>/trash/ for gold.

Savage axis 2, buy a high quality scope (burris, vortex ect.)
>>34116775
I've seen youtube videos of a guy ringing steel at 1000 yards with a Savage Axis. I think that there are absolutely rifles capable of that range for less than $1000. Just looking for options because it will end up being an expensive build when it's all said and done.

I'm really giving thought to a Savage, mainly because of the trigger. The accu-trigger on my buddy's .17HMR is godly.

Just swap out the stock, the axiseses stocks have a lot of bend in them, the kind that makes the stock touch the barrel if you have a bipod and put any weight whatsoever on the rifle.

Also what's your budget on an optic? There's a Steiner one the Canadian sniper YouTube man reviewed that was a good buy.

There's an article on them in the latest American Rifleman that I haven't read yet. I'll have to check it out. And as far as my budget I'd like to have both rifle and optic for less than 2k.

Just found this trying to find the name of the guy, he knows his stuff. I'd advise just getting a better optic with that setup if you want something better.

muh trigger.
just get a stevens, and spend the extra on a nice scope.

>Just get a stevens
Stevens was bought by Savage years ago you stupid twat. Why would I not buy the rifle with a companies best trigger, which also happens to be a trigger that like?
>>34117034
No I didn't, thanks for the videos though. They definitely put me on the right track.

get a remington 700 sps tactcial aac-sd, or a savage fcp-sr. i'd go for the remington tho because of aftermarket support and savage is shit

You're a fucking dumbass. If you're not going to contribute to the thread, go somewhere else. I'm sure there's a nice mech/battleship/shitty /pol/ thread just waiting for you in the catalog.

>buys a Remington in this day and age
>calls Savage shit

i was trying until assalted by you.
maybe take your own advice(If you're not going to contribute to the thread, go somewhere else).

I'm not a fan of Remington, especially their newer stuff. I've always been partial to Savage or to Winchesters. Unfortunately Model 70s are wicked expensive so I'll probably go for the Savage.

the remington is shit too but it's easier to fix
