Was playing some mw2 and just realized how shitty alot of the gun animations are, for example the rpd belt doesn't have primers and it's probably just spent casings. The sights on Uzi don't actually work, you just look down the top instead of lining it up. Post stupid video game mistakes.

What grips me is that the belt doesn't run out in a belt fed machine gun, when youou reload you take the loaded belt out and put a new one in

Also everything is full retard except for like the M14. Also I can't cowitness my iron sights with the eotech. Another thing. When you reload mags, after you've shot a at least ,29 rounds, you have 30 and not 31 rounds.

The average professional (not indie) game dev today is a genderfluid twenty-something who lives in California and votes Democrat. The amount of people in the industry who are actually interested in firearms is extremely small, and the percentage of those people who actually know what they're talking about is even slimmer.

And at the end of the day, the vast majority of customers don't really care.

This is why the only games that are even close to accurate about this topic are indie games or games that come from extremely small studios, usually in a foreign land.

The one I always hate is how reloading with rounds still in the old mag doesnt make them go away. They just somehow magically get back into another mag.

Arma at least gets that right, although IIRC you can't manage your mags to combine all your partials into a couple of full ones when/if you get a quiet moment, which can be a PITA when you're running around with a backpack full of <10 round mags.
Don't think it gets leaving one in the chamber right though, but it has been a long time since I played so perhaps I'm forgetting that.

Game says you have 95 rounds of 5.56. You load a new mag, fire 5 rounds, reload!
Reload shows you tossing old mag away.
Game still shows you have 90 rounds of 5.56 instead of 65.

In all fairness, the MP5 you get in HL1 has a grenade launcher... The shotgun was always that way.

IIRC Valve had a much larger weapon list for HL2 that they had to condense down right before release, which probably explains all the wacky strange things like that (and why the pulse rifle is known as the AR2)

The fact of the matter is iron sights in real life are really small, which in a game would make them really hard to use, so they make the sights work differently so the player has an easier time aiming.

I would fucking despise such a feature in most contexts because it does very little for actual gameplay. for example, in counterstrike >>34120398 I'm certain the devs are acutely aware of all the ways their gun animations are wrong, but it pretty much always serves a gameplay purpose - ie. pulling the charging handle or slide or tactical dildo or whatever every time you take the gun out provides an excuse to slow down the process of switching weapons. fingerfucking your mags all day long doesn't.

Resolution plays a role. really, its only been the last two gens where realistic iron sights were really super feasible, since it would be blurry otherwise without extreme exaggeration. Just look at Stalker SoC, the iron sights are fucking awful in terms of texture.

You could get away with realistic iron sights on PS4/XB1/any PC with 2gB vidoecard, but if it was anything else it would look like a somewhat vague block with two dashes, or a very small hole with a blurry post in the middle.

The FAMAS is burst, the FAL is semi and the M21 is named improperly but most of the FA is fine. The M240 damage is garbage
