What was the coolest AT-aircraft of WW2 and why was it the HS-129 B-3?
Nothing like it has been seen since

Does it go BRRRRRRAAAP?
Because there is little point in that configuration of aircraft. The DH Mosquito Tsetse variant was fitted with a 57mm 6 pounder AT gun and autoloader, and they even tried a 96 mm 32 pound gun at the end of the war, but it was still decided that rockets were more practical.

>Rockets were more practical
That gives you an idea of how unpractical these plane-mounted guns were.
>>34107621
tsetse wasnt AT
it was used against submarines
later in the war they instead used RP-3s where they replaced the 152mm warhead with a 76mm 17pdr AP shell which was still good enough to fuck up a submariners day

good sir allow me to show you the P108.a
a italian plane that mounted a 90mm gun up bored to 102mm for anti shipping dutys

Holy shitmuffins, while looking this up I came across this autism-tastic page.
>With Cannon-Fighters, we could have thousands upon thousands of these low-cost cannon shells carried aloft by Killer Bee swarms to blast open paths for our ground maneuver forces to pour through and reach the enemy's centers-of-gravity to collapse them and end the conflict quickly and with the least amount of life and property damage.

My favorite part was air superiority fighter using flechette shells, pic related.

Sperging rants aside, the historical parts are very interesting.
>search for a good image of beautiful piece of shit Lagg-3 IT...
>stumble upon this thing instead.

It was desigend for the role, but later they decided that the Mossie, a big plane (4u) with liquid cooled engines, was too vulnerable for the role (which required a steady close approach which rendered the plane flak bait). Coastal Command snapped them up because they had use for such a plane hunting subs.

That's one of Sparky's sites. Beware of autism overload.

Wait...Combatreform? Like...MC McGavin, Sparky himself?

too bad the gunners had trouble breathing after a few rounds fired

Yep.
Threadly reminder that he's also a furfag who draws diaperporn.

I want to say i'm surprised and shocked, but somehow i'm not.
>>34109076
We did have the Hurricane IID with twin 40mm Vickers S used in the AT role though.
The Vickers S was also used in sub-hunting as a nose gun for some of Coastal Command's Fortress IIA (B-17E) maritime patrol aircraft
>>34109314
yeah and there was a Tempest prototype fitted with 47 mm guns
cant find the picture rn but it looked like the cannoncane gunpods just longer and sleek
kinda sexy
>>34106934
>not the ME262 with a fuckton of rockets

>>34109344
i just found it after the post got submitted

This one

those are meant for big bomber formations (hilarious funfact : the R4M rockets actually had more "muzzle" velocity than the MK108s in the 262 nose )
>>34106934
Always had a thing for Carpenter's Piper Cub.
>>34109314
Any mechanical relation to the Vickers maxim gun?
>>34110947
The QF 1pdr Pom Pom?
I don't think so. S Gun was based on the COW 37mm

you misspelled 'fork-tailed devil.'
The Fokker T. V.
Dutch medium bomber with a 20mm autocannon in the nose. During WW2 it saw surprising success as an interceptor, credited with downing around 20 bombers and over 100 transport planes during the battle of Holland
I kind of like the Ju 87G
