Vertical holster a best.
Pros:
>You can CC absurdly large guns, with weight being the only real factor.
>Good if you sit down and stand up a lot, ex; if you're a professional driver
>'80s buddy-cop as fuck, which makes it cool
>Vertical shoulder rig keeps your muzzle pointed at the floor, just in case, and conceals better
Cons:
>You have to practice your draws (you should anyway)
>You always have to have a jacket on, even if it's just a wispy thin one
>You may not find it easy to find a shoulder rig for your gun

I love shoulder carry, since up here, concealment ability is more important than draw speed, which can still be surprisingly fast with practice.
>>
>>34103584
>1911
>oh ...wait
>>
>>34103994

Who makes a good vertical my dude?

I was thinking about getting one for pretty much all of the reasons you just listed. I have to get up and down a lot, so that pretty much rules out AIWC and IWC still isn't the best from a sitting position and you can't necessarily carry larger guns like AIWC lets you.

The only problem, like you pointed out, is the whole jacket thing but that really isn't the biggest deal in the world.

i don't have a problem with shoulder holsters, but i have a problem with holsters that point a pistol anywhere put into the ground. murphy's law is always in effect and i don't trust anyone but myself when it comes to firearms. a gun's barrel should always be pointing in a safe direction until it's needed to be used. directly behind you or to your left or right is not a safe direction.

>the draw time IS slower, its just a fact
>they can get tangled easily and its a bitch to un do, have a separate coat hanger for it
>awkward at first, feels like youre wearing a back pack
that being said theyre pretty cool, way more comfortable then waste band carrying and I get to carry full size no matter the weather. I recommend people at least try them
>>
>>34105541
The (poorly articulated) point was that fucking up the draw can mean a finger on the trigger at exactly the wrong moment, which that video demonstrates.
>>
>>34105520
>the gun might spontaneously go off by itself!
i didn't fucking say that did i jackass? why don't you re-educate yourself on the rules of gun safety.
>>34105537
i don't carry in any way that it points at myself. but even if i did, it's not pointing in a direction that would harm anyone else. if someone fucks up a draw and wounds themselves that's strictly their own fault. but if someone fucks up a draw and wounds someone else unintentionally, that's fucking retarded.

>Do you always carry your rifle bags vertically to avoid sweeping anyone with the gun enclosed inside?
actually yea i do. i walk out onto a range with my rifle or shotgun slung in safe direction or in a bag with the barrel pointed down. it's a courtesy to not point a firearm in an unsafe direction. i've refused to shop at certain stores because of their employees and customers actions while handling a firearm.

nothing made me rage more than seeing a butter bar at the far right of a pistol range draw his m9 out of his chest holster and flag the shit out of the entire firing line. meanwhile there were people like you telling me not to worry because they've never heard of a report of an incident caused by that particular setup. in my opinion there should be no reason to justify unsafe use of a firearm. murphy is always around for when you least expect it.

>>
>>34103666
Courier here. I use shoulder holster whenever I have to cc, for this reason. Also good for when I'm on a motorcycle. Plus my holster is fitted to me and my gun (brother in law is in the leatherwork trade and "tailored" it for me, so to speak).
If you're an average Joe normal belt holsters are better. It's how I cc when I'm not working because that way I can take my jacket off without causing a scene.
Callum is still a retard.
>>
>>34103683
Pros
>quick access
>can conceal larger/heavier guns
>extra mag pouches
>better ease of movement
>less weight on your belt, less shit strapped to your belt
>can tuck your shirt in without needing a special supertuck IWB holster
>easier to slide your hand in your jacket than rip your shirt up and draw
>can safely take a shit without removing gun from person
>if you carry IWB, an extra gun is easier to carry in a shoulder holster than in an ankle holster or belly band

Cons
>have to keep your jacket on
>if not pointed down, muzzle direction can be no bueno
>hugs are disqualified unless you go both arms under, which could look gay
>requires extra clothing (shirt+jacket)

Pretty much all this. I carry my main CC (G20SF) in a shoulder holster and keep my back-up gun and extra gear on my belt. It's a lot of extra weight, but it balances itself out and since I'm a fat fellow wearing baggier clothes, I don't print.

Shoulder Holster
>10mm G20SF Gen 3 (15+1rds)
>2 spare 15rd mags

Belt
>9mm CZ 2075 (14+1rds)
>1 spare 19rd mag for CZ
>flashlight
>fixed-blade knife

Pockets
>phone
>wallet
>utility pocket knife

Sometimes I swap out the CZ 2075 and mag for my .44spc Bulldog, depending on where I'm going, if it's the city or in the woods. I used to tote a CZ-85b 9mm instead of the G20SF but I switched up a few months ago.

I work for a business security company, and the company's policy for armed guards assigned to banks in rural areas requires a sidearm and a back up gun mandatory, and we can apply for rifle approval if the client company allows it, but it stays in the control room unless the need arises.

One of the other guards I work with carries a G17 as his sidearm and a G19 as his back up, and they're both on his duty belt in owb holsters.

They let us use our own guns for the job but they have to meet a certain criteria
>only approved manufacturers
Glock, S&W, HK, SIG, Beretta, Ruger, Colt, CZ, Kimber, Para, Springfield, etc... no Taurus, RIA, Hi-Point, Walther, Browning, Rem, etc

>only approved calibers
9mm, .40 S&W, 45 ACP, 357 SIG, 10mm, .38 Special, .357 Mag, .44 Spec, .44 Magnum
Some dudes tried to get 5.7 on the approved list but it was vetoed as "not a service caliber".
>no blowback
>no RMR or optics on pistols
>no suppressors
>no extendos or drums on pistols
>no Mexican carry

I wear a rather concealable shoulder rig with a dress vest at work (hotel job, Manager) and have had no issues printing or showing others that I am packing my 1911.

Works even better with my sports jacket.

Question is do you want to be a "operator" or do you want to be a "grey man"

If either answer you're a fudd.
>>
>>34106499
Some manufacturers have been disallowed (like Hi Point), and some just haven't been added because the company hasn't added them to the list yet. I don't know what their criteria for manufacturers is, but Ive heard that Walther was actually removed at one point because somebody working in the city had to draw their sidearm in the parking lot of a luxury handbag store and his gun jammed and the thief got away with a Gucci purse. Turned out the guard had a P38 with Hydra Shoks and the security company was pissed off about it.

Most requests to approve other manufacturers are declined with "does not meet service weapon requirements". Back up guns are usually immediately auto-approved for those that can or have to carry them, as long as your BUG is in the approved caliber and basically isn't a derringer.

If you are driving a lot it a comfortable set up and works well.

The problem comes on the draw. You need to make sure you're not sweeping yourself but the real issue is how do you quickly draw and fire from a position of retention?

The answer is you don't. The draw is across your chest which can get your arm pinned or trapped by an attacker.

It's just another tool, I don't care for the meme arguing over it. Just like anything it should be deployed based on carry needs.

I have one,a horizontal one. Blackhawk brand, shoulder harness that uses the existing serpa holsters.

It's not practical all the time, but when deployed correctly it's nice.

> Wear it under your outermost layer for easy access to gun while layered up for work out doors
> Easy to access while seated in the drivers seat of a vehicle.
> Great way to have your bed gun, because you can hang it at head level from the bedframe
> quick way to arm yourself, with a gun/ammo/accessories while in atypical clothes (PJ's for instance).

It's an option to have, which is nice. It's clutch though, gotta deploy it right.

The vertical ones good for comfortably CC-ing (with a jacket) full-size and long barrel/slide without destroying making an obvious silhouette. The draw is a bit funny and practice is an absolute most if you plan on carrying like that.

Horizontal holsters are a bit more natural on the draw, but obviously bigger guns will be harder to conceal if you're not a thick dude.

i love paul.
his production value and editing skill is trash (though better than it used to be) but he gives really level-headed analysis without sounding like a blowhard. i even like his stupid dad-tier jokes

Places like that generally have insurance. Having armed guards may save you some theft insurance if you sell luxury goods because of the deterrence. Having armed guards actually shoot someone probably increases the chance they'll get sued and will make the insurance companies unhappy. Insurance rules the world, anon

One guy did just that. Nutn had YouTube shut him down. Nutnfancy Abridged was one of the better things to come out of /k/ recently.

I carry my G34 in a shoulder holster under a zip-up hoodie when cold weather comes around. Pretty comfy and after a bit of practice I'm able to draw fairly quick.
>>
I use a shoulder holster for my 1911. I put an unbuttoned shirt over the top and no one has ever noticed it. It's very comfy. I use iwb when I carry my m&p compact. All about time and place.

You better be raging all the time. If I'm standing in front of you in a line somewhere, there is a 45 pointed straight at you.

Horizontal shoulder rig for the win

Chest holsters are to ensure you can draw if someones pins you cowgirl style.
>>
>>34103550
With they way modern holsters have developed they are while still an effective holstering method not as practical as they once where. That being said if you're wearing a suit and want to look cool as fuck a leather shoulder holster, (so long as it matches you're belt and shoes) is the most AESTHETIC way to carry a classy metal gun like a Hi power or Cz75.

TL:DR not stupid but not a practical method for everyday carry outside of places you'll never take of your coat/jacket, or Miami in the 1980s.

Should be fine. Maybe avoid a leather holster and get a kydex holster instead.
