Even assuming this takes place in a vacuum and nobody else gets involved I'd have to give this to the Allies. Russia and China could be a serious threat but the US & UK are top tier and are already used to coordinating, not to mention both regions speak the same primary language. a full US combined arms military operation, maximum contribution from all branches, focused on waging a proper war against established nations is not something this planet should ever be forced to experience. honestly it kind of sucks because nukes basically removed the prospect of agressive militarism or imperialism ever happening again for anyone, we could be living in a comfy world with only 4-5 extremely powerful super countries today if it was acceptable to just take a country by force and subjugate it's people anymore.

China and Russia would invade key oil producing regions in the Mid E. and the allies would have to react, that would be the main battleground, outside of Eastern Europe to stop the Russian incursion. North Korea is worthless as an ally and China and Russia have a shitty history of coordinating with each other, not to mention they have piss-poor power projection while the US and UK have mastered it.

Plus it would be impossible to have Japan not jump in for the allies and Pakistan would jump in for China, which then leads to India joining for the allies.

Depends where it's being fought. If we assume a magical total war where no side was willing to yield politically, and NK was a teamplayer (aka fantasy land), all situations are tipped in favor of the 'Allied' forces except an invasion of the 'Axis' landmass. In that situation, that'd be a shitshow where the war slowly grinds into a stalemate as heavily entrenched AA defense reduces US advantage until the brass are forced to consider nukes.

Russia and the UK are mostly irrelevant in this scenario. China and the US would be going to war by proxy over the Koreans. To be honest North Korea only exists because China keeps them from being wiped out by South Korea. Their pitiful excuse for a modern military wouldn't stand a chance against South Korea in a one on one situation.

The actual fight would be another stalemate albeit one that nobody would want to call a cease fire in. I doubt even China wants to go through another 50 years of nut job North Korean dictators but there's no way South Korea or the US would agree to anything but a complete elimination of the North Korean regime.

Biggest thing to come out of this war that OP describes is that it would have China trying to wreck the US economy without being pulled down with them while at the same time reactivating Japan as a power. By the time this second Korean war was over Japan would be on a new Constitution and building up their military. Look for close ties between this newly aggressive Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

It's because they didn't want to get nuked. And yeah if Russia nukes US it's over. Assuming nukes don't get used though, they'd have a hell of a time shipping their army half a world away to a country sorrounded by ocean on both sides with all their useful assets in land, and an armed civillain populace.

Invading the US with conventional forces is suicide. They'd never be able to pull it off. It's too big and far away from everyone else.

You realize the US has more than three times the population and is over a ocean. Thy could not successfully hold Afghanistan even when it was train ride away.

The police forces of LA, Chicago and New York collectively outnumber the Russian Airborne Troops who will probably be the only Russian forces able even project to the US.
