If youre talking about hunting you only get one bullet and if you arent complete shit then that bullet will kill instantly about 30% of the time with a direct heart shot but the other 70% are lung shots and theyll run pretty fucking far before they go down and youll have to track them for a couple hours. If youre talking about people it depends on what ammunition you use but your range is limited to about 250 yards considering even with a rifled barrel slugs on average start to drop around 200 depending on the grain and if theyre wearing armor then you can forget buckshot completely unless youre in a dick to butt situation. I mean for home defense? Yeah thats what you want, for going out and fighting other armed combatants, id go with a rifle.

I mean yes it is but the major factor in my opinion is the limited range which is a huge disadvantage coupled with the fact that your tube mag is going to be able to hold 8+1 tops. If theyre out of your range and youre well within theirs its difficult to see a way out of that dilemma from my perspective. I mean look at it this way, FALs have an approximate max range of 600 meters which is 3x that of your own. Now in super close quarters with buckshot you win that fight 9/10 times but literally every step they take in the opposite direction of you is a huge loss of range for you unless youre using slugs or at least dutch loading them, but if youve only got buckshot and theyre armored just forget it after 100 meters

Shotguns out performs .22 in every category besides weight.

Why the .22 is reccomended for anything besides a squirrel/training gun is beyond me.

Yes it can "go inside the body and bounce around" just like the .223 will "yaw and tumble to make a huge wound" yet they don't reliably do that.

Every round has a gun myth/circumstance equivalent to a critical hit in a RPG. The fact a round has a chance to do serious but be basically useless 95% of the time does not make it viable.
