What body armor should I get? If civil war in the US broke out and I needed armor for it, would M855 green tip be a problem or should I get the plate that is half as heavy but won't stop green tip.

Also, whats your thoughts on side plates?
>>
>>34072590
>defeats non armor piercing ammo
How is this a selling point?
>>
Are you buying operator things instead of a place in the country or are you already good in that regard?
>>
>>34072612
Like a house in the country?
>>
>>34072610
Their other plates don't stop green tip because they are poly. but they are literally 2.5lbs so super light weight.
>>
>>34072590
if you're expecting to be shot at by military or preppers they'll have at least m855. if you are expecting gang members and hoodlums they won't have much in the way of ap. antifa probably won't either unless soros has been stockpiling it.
>>
>>34072894
in your opinion. Whats more important, that extra protection or 3lbs less on your rig.
>>
>>34072894
Basically this. If I was retarded and pissed off my neighbors hotloads of 243, 270 and 375h&h would be my big worries and wouldn't bother with less than ceramic level 4 for city overflow poly or steel are more than enough but would do poly or ceramic lv3 due to rice crispy joints
>>
>>34072944
Location and opposition determines but lv 3 ceramic is a good general till real ap comes out
>>
Lvl 4 or bust. Shtf eventually people will be getting into the massive stockpiles of m855 the police and military have. It's without a doubt the most prolific ammunition in the United States second only to .22
>>
>>34073043
Level 4 is usually pretty heavy. I image you would most likely be better served being light on your feet then being weighed down with lvl 4
>>
>>34073067
Level 3 ceramic (not sure on poly, steel, and polyceramic) will stop 855
>>
Get level 4 plating. If you find yourself being shot at by a rifle, there's a good chance it will be a
30-06 or some other full power rifle round, because hunting rifles are very common.
>>
>>34072944
personally i have unreasonable piles of armor, i'd wear a lvl3 vest out and about, soft armor with plates for fixed defense.

What about head protection?
Would this be enough protection or are you fucked either way?
>>
>>34072628
Yes, if you really want to be safe just keep to growing potatoes in the country side instead of gunning down antifa. But to each their own, it's your life.
>>
>>34073543
Go search up some picture of the bruises you get from body armour, I'm not sure I'd want that shit done to my face. Better then death, but fuck man. Shit will hurt.
>>
>>34073501
If you actually get shot by something like that, what are the chances you'll be able to get away, rather than the shooter just taking more shots at you while you're winded. Assuming you got ambushed.
>>
>>34073572
Depends on how fit anf how you respond to fight/flight reactions. That said from hunting rifles pretty good chance of moving before accurate follow-ups unless they are close enough for you to effectively shoot back. If its auto fire........ yeah probably fucked even if it's only 9mm in ambush and you are on your own
>>
>>34072590
get a 6b23, shit has better protection and can stop up to 300.win and its way fuking cheaper than 1 level 4 plate all together, its practically designed against nato rounds
>>
>>34072590
What is your budget?

In general, plan to run into M855. M855/S109 is pretty much milsurp now. You will find it at every gunshow, in Cheaper Than Dirt, Sportsmans Guide, pretty sure I have seen it at walmart.

In general, side plates yes. But soldier load is an age old question.
>>
>>34073838
>6b23

Yes. Especially the slick system without additional molle. However, does anyone have a genuine source (not airsoft) with plates?
>>
>>34073946
ebay, thats where i bought the whole set, they ship as "airsoft", sons a bitches r heavy pl8s

theres sizes to the 6b23 so make sure to ask him what sizes hes got available, if its too big the plates will stick out
>>
>>34073983
>>34074007

Are you able to fit these in normal carriers or no?
>>
>>34073983
Do we have any available test data for these? Sadly I never got to play with any Russian stuff so no idea on specs here
>>
>>34072590
Armor is generally futile because if you are visible and slow enough to be getting shot at then you are likely getting hit by at least grazing wounds that may require a medical team. Are you a good goy with backup and that sort of medical care on call? Probably not so guerilla tactics would be preferential instead of some juggernaught fantasy...
>>
>>34074781
Number of people matters a lot in this and you hit on a great point. I would say armor has its place especially if you have time to get it on when you have a break in but in the end dont draw attention and shoot first from concealment
>>
>>34074281
i honestly have no idea, but i dout it due to the shape of the plates, the 6b23 has velcro in side the Kevlar pockets to hold the playes in plave aswell as straps

>pic related is russian rating, the plates i posted are supposed to be gost lvl 5
>video is it taking a shot of .300 but 7.62x54r AP will punch threw
>>
>>34074921
Hmm so somewhere between level 3 and 4 for us/nato plates honestly not a bad place to be
>>
>>34075039
yup especially at the cost
>>
>>34072610
Because it's better that defeating no ammo
>>
>>34072944
Well, is it 3 or 6 less? Depends on if you want front and rear plates.
>>34072996
>Rice crispy joints
What?
>>
>>34075350
sounds like he wore down all his cartilage rucking.
>>
>>34075279
Biggest worries in my area are problem solvers and 243's
>>
>>34073562

Fuck off cuck. We will retake the cities from your filthy kind.
>>
>>34075361
Mix of rucking and having to drag the 50 from motorpool up 12 floors to set up overwatch any time intel got nervous but yes lots of snaps crackles and popping. Still worth it to waste a motherfucker a mile away up a mountain
>>
>>34075807
so nigs nd spigs ayye, should be perfect they cant shoot anyhoot
>>
>>34072590
if shit really does happen you'll be fighting a guerrilla war and this money would be better spent on medical supplies for when you catch lead in your femoral artery
plates are for conventional warfare

spend the money on a rig you can hide under a light jacket
>>
>>34078013
wouldn't get shot if had armor
>>
>>34076570
And my fellow redneck neighbors with rifles that can pen lv 3 with the right ball ammo who can shoot
>>
How do I "obtain U.S. federal permission" to legally purchase a couple sets of Level-4 armor made in the USA and have it shipped it overseas? Armor is perfectly legal in my country if it helps.
>>
>>34075816
I ain't no cityfag, I'm just a responsible redneck who wouldn't kill himself over the chance to take down 3-4 antifa.
>>
>>34078725
i can't believe I have to explain this, but plates don't cover your legs
>>
i'm currently running lvl 3 ceramic that are also lvl 4 icw lvl 3a. about 5lbs each.
>>
>>34081673
you can send the state department an email, but it's unlikely they'll give you a permit.
http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/

lvl3 isn't regulated, and lvl4ish armor is available from european countries without export restrictions.

i have also heard of people buying esapi plates on ebay from other countries. either the sellers weren't aware of itar or didn't care.
>>
If you're not buying Level IV rifle plates, why are you bothering with hard armor? Find a police surplus IIIA soft armor vest.
>>
/raises hand

In a real gunfight, the first thing you do is flop prone. Right? In which case the armor does you zero good.

If the attacker aims center of mass, it gives you a brief reprieve. That's all. But if the attacker sees you wearing a plate carrier, he'll aim for your head. In which case it does you zero good all over again.

If you're defending your own house against an assailant or group thereof, then it serves a useful purpose. But if you're stuck in your own home and there's a group of armed people coming in, you're already fucked.

It seems to me that body armor is more a soldiering-survivability thing. Somebody want to correct me on this?
