Patrol caps are the standard garrison headgear.

I prefer Patrol Caps unless it gets shit hot. Wore a Boonie in Africa the whole time I was there.

Over a decade ago those were replaced with Patrol Caps as every day wear in the Army.

Berets are broken out once in a while for ceremonies. Had to wear one this morning in fact, for a division pass and review.

Would much rather wear Caps over berets any day.

Boonies are best hat but maggots hate them and an important part of uniform boards is inflicting maximum faggotry on the troops.

Boonies keep the sun off more of your head, are nice to soak in water for cooling, crush well to fit in pockets and in general are best hat ever. They also made decent extra helmet padding under the old steel pots.
