Does anyone have any pics of Colt 629 Commandos being used in the field outside of US Military use? There's a million pics of them in use in Vietnam by the US, but I'm looking for pics of them in use by forces other than US forces.
Probably Israel then, the US gave them a whole load of M16s and CAR15s for free, you'd still see them there today on occasion, because they hold on to near anything that isn't hopelessly obsolete (and even then...).
After the US left Vietnam, it doesn't look like they gave the ARVN any of the carbines either - aside from MACV/SOG forces, the South Vietnamese apparently didn't make use of them

Probably just the Israelis

I'm interested as well.
Vietnam era colt carbines have to be the sexiest family in the armalite lineage
There has got to be some evidence of them being used by insurgent groups or paramilitary forces or mercenaries or something. I used to have one pic of a CAR15 Commando being used by a mercenary somewhere in Africa in the 1970s, but that was on an old PC.

Mostly what I have are clearly captured guns or Ranger-trained South Vietnamese. I mean, it's not technically US forces.
And that's all I had. This one doesn't qualify, but it's still rare and era-appropriate.
And if anyone knows anything about this picture, remind me. I think it had a sister showing a 629 or something, I remember some story from when this was posted before that is filed there in my head. Maybe a similar looking older picture, dunno.
What about pics of Vietnam era Colt carbines in US military use but after Vietnam? Anyone got any pics of those?

I think Puerto Rico's police force use them often in patrols around the projects and doing raids against drug syndicates. Alot of our equipment for the National Guard and the Police are hands me downs from the military, so we have a surplus of cold war equipment from the 60s to the 90s. Fun Fact: Alot of US surplus Vietnam equipement has been handed down to Latin America when the CIA and KGB were using it as a proxy war playground for influence. You'll find alot of these rifles and their deriatives in the hands of Latin American militaries, security and special forces

It's an SF pipeline guy completing Robin Sage. All the guys in black are playing local nation militia that he is supposed to train and lead.
It used to be up on wikipedia IIRC.
