I live in a super humid area and am kind of paranoid about my guns getting rusty. I clean them once a month and rub a coat of CLP on them weather I'm shooting them or not, and I put silica packets in the cases, but unfortunately I live in a third floor apartment with no elevator so buying a heavy safe is just not an option, so right now they are sitting in foam cases, which I know is bad. if I use silica gel packets and regular cleaning will I offset that? or is there something else I should be doing

Alabamafag here. Get you some of this:
http://www.brownells.com/gun-cleaning-chemicals/oils-lubricants/rust-prevention/rig-universal-gun-grease-prod31842.aspx
For long-term storage give everything a good coat.
If you have any blued guns keep a rag around that's impregnated with the stuff and use it to wipe the guns down after handling.
Also something like this is better than a foam case for long-term storage:

Snippity snappity, this is now a useful screen-cappity!

I have my .22 and my browning hi power in a gun sock. It's my AR in worried about. It's my HD gun so I keep it loaded under my bed in a guitar case covered by a blanket. I don't want it in a gun sock for obvious reasons. Since it's loaded I generally don't touch it at all unless I'm cleaning it or getting it ready for the range, but I don't want it getting rusted either.

It's important to masturbate your guns at least once daily.
But no seriously you should be taking it to the range if it's your HD.

Dear OP,
this is CaCl2 and its more than 20time stronger than silica. Buy a Pack and you have the dryest Air in USA. You can dry it at 340°F
1g can take about 1g H20

I shoot it once or twice a month, but I can't really miss with it below 25 yards which is why it's my HD gun. Just curious what's considered "long term storage?" If I shoo my guns more than once a month and CLP them after should I even worry about rust?

IMO long-term storage is anything over 6 months. Like if you have a gun for hunting and you only pull it out a month or so out of the year. An HD gun that is regularly shot, cleaned and lubricated doesn't need any special treatment unless you're in a really harsh environment(read salt water).

I carry a high-carbon-steel knife, I know.
This is just a Tip as a chemist I can give for the hardest problem. Also use this to remove rust spots, its unbelivable! Only kills the rust and get pink if its real rust. without acid
