Currently using an Echo93 sling plate with a key ring. Both items came with the gun, previous owner was using an East German sling with it. I turned the Echo93 plate upside down so the key ring won't scratch the receiver any more than it has.

Some day I will cut the a slot in the receiver and add a proper rear sling point.

Only if I use a high grip, otherwise it's close but not in the way. The other option is to put my thumb on the sling plate which works as well.

I considered doing like I've done on my M92 and one of my Dracos by filing the grip and adding some paracord but with the ferrules on the wooden AMD grips it's not an option. Plus I have several M70 grips and AMD grips are not cheap enough to go filing on.

Been trying to find some exact measurements as to the placement of the slot, but all the templates that were posted years ago all seem to be gone.

I'm using an Echo93 as well, although I got the AMD specific one.

Wanted to buy the one on the far left which appears to be in perfect condition until I noticed the area above the rear lug is ground down

When I bought ~2 dozen 45 rounders to resell, that was the only one with the angel hair pattern. The others didn't even have a hint of it, just solid orange like an East German bakelite. That could have been just my batch, though. Dunno what the ratio looks like large scale.

It's one of the best options available to get your optic as low as possible and still holds zero when you detach and reattach. Your other options are the Ultimak gas tube which clamps to your barrel, or TWS dogleg railed dust cover which makes you remove your rear sight leaf. Other side rails like Midwest Industries look like crap.

I don't actually think there's anything wrong with it fundamentally. MP5 pistols only require you to swap out the back plate to make them an SBR. It could be constructive intent if you have a loose stock around. Maybe it's different with an AK, I dunno.

Oh I've tried, I just get offers that I consider ridiculous and one offer of an original import rifle. If someone wants more for one than it would cost for me to buy the tools and materials to fake my own, I just can't get myself to go for it. $1800 is a third SPAS, fully repaired, a custom case, and quite a bit of ammo to play with. Bakelite and it's counterpart AG-S4 are under EPA rule and not really producible in the US, so I doubt you'll be doing that.
