I heard they're replacing the M9 with the P320 in the military? Full and compact, iirc? I don't know much about them, mind telling me the pros and cons about them, /k/?
>>
>>34016936
Pros:
Striker fired =consistent trigger pull.
Changeable grip
Nice trigger

Cons:
Polymer
Lighter trigger pull than M9 DA means more nd's and dead soldiers
More prone to rust because sig
Finish basically rubs off
>>
>>34016986
>Lighter trigger pull than M9 DA means more nd's and dead soldiers

I'm betting you believe the first generation M9's exploded and decapitated the shooter too.
>>
Pros: lighter, higher capacity for its size, better trigger, better safety position, simpler, easier to maintain

Cons: retards will shoot themselves more often because no 10lb inch long DA pull
>>
>>34017003
I know the slides were breaking and Beretta needed to change the metallurgy in them, but I don't believe anything beyond that.

P320 has a lighter trigger pull than a DA M9. This is a fact. Soldiers already shoot themselves doing retarded shit with the M9, so it stands to reason that a lighter trigger pull will enable more retarded shit.

>Lighter trigger pull than M9 DA means more nd's and dead soldiers
The only way to prevent those retards from killing themselves is disable the guns completely. They used to use single action 1911s and those were mostly fine. These p320s even have special order idiot switches.
>More prone to rust because sig
As awful as Exetershit is, the finish is the one area they're better than real german/Swiss sigs.
>>
>>34017003
I saw M9s break on the firing line first hand.
>>
>>34017102
>As awful as Exetershit is, the finish is the one area they're better than real german/Swiss sigs

Wat

Nitron is a pretty mediocre finish. The PVD they put on the Legion may as well be sharpie. The tan P320s use PVD as well so good luck. Whatever finish they use expect it to be scratched out of the box for some reason.
>>
>>34016936
I have the subcompact in 40 S&W. It's a really nice trigger and even in the form I have it in, has no more noticeable recoil than my P-07. It has a nice trigger too. I did have one failure to fire in the first 100 rounds though. Firing pin never even struck the primer. I'm going to chalk it up to being in the break-in period. It hasn't done it since.
>>
>>34016936
Pros
Retard proof takedown
Lighter trigger
Modular as he'll
Actually ambidextrous
Standard capacity
Solid finish
Changeable grip sizes

Cons
People bitch because it's not a glock/m9
People will complain about polymer even though glock was polymer too
>>
>>34017130
tell us the story
>>
>>34016986
>Polymer
ughh. Nobody wants to lug around a heavy ass duty metal frame pistol when most soldiers never even draw the thing and rely on their ARs. It's like you think the things will break even though we've been using poly on guns since the 50's.

Pro: women will stop bitching about the gun not fitting their hands. They're more likely to actually carry them in a support role.
>>
>>34017130
calling BS
>>
Accurate, nice trigger, nice feel, light, good sights, easy takedown.

No cons. Great pistol. That's why they adopted it.

As a DA/SAfag, I think they did good with switching to the P320. Like REALLY good.

>medium (presumably what they will issue initally) sized frames are more friendly to all shooters unlike the xboxhueg M9 grips
>the P320 has a 6lb yet very shootable trigger right out of the box
>striker has less of a learning curve for troops that would otherwise not spend enough time to properly learn how to run DA/SA, see this all the time on video of servicemen staging the fuck out of the M9's DA trigger pull
>the M9's large grips, a smaller handed person and lack of experience with shooting DA/SA is a fucking no go
>manual safety on the P320 is actually well designed like a 1911's or M&P's and is not intrusive on the shooter's grip

But you'll get people butthort that Glock didn't get the contract, the hihg bore axis and a bunch of other dumb shit that doesn't even factor in. The P320 is also pretty much the only striker fired pistol that doesn't come with the lame ass 2-3 piece trigger safety every not-a-Glock comes with nowadays when it's completely redundant.
>>
>>34016986
>Lighter trigger pull than M9 DA means more nd's and dead soldiers
if this is a concern, maybe they should adopt the Nagant M1895
>>

Picture more appropriate. Thumb safety for the troops. Wonder if they'll carry condition one or three?
>>
>>34019879
Three. Always three.
>>
>>34017130
I'm not going to say you're lying, but I will say that's probably an issue with your unit having shit armorers. I was an armorer and watched tens of thousands of rounds go through 30 different M9s for years, and the only flaw I ever found was a crack in a locking block. If yours were failing repeatedly on the line, someone was fucking up.
>>
guys should i buy a p320 compact or glock 19 ?
>>
>>34019906

Figured as much, safety on I'd imagine
>>
>>34019879
I want that. No, I need it. I NEED IT.

>tfw live in commiefornia
>>
Have they figured out the gun they will substitute the main weapon already?
They were talking about chaing the caliber and everything else, for both side arm and the AR.
>Yet still I don`t understand why the fuck they will still keep the 9mm on another sidearm
>>
>>34019923
Get the P320 Compact. It's not the ugly brick that is the glock.

>>34019974
I don't think they've said so yet, I wonder what it'll be though.
>>
>>34019974
changing*
>>
>>34019985
By 2018 the army will have both, another sidearm and main weapon.
Hopefully it`s better for the soldiers and they can perform their job properly, and not some bid bullshit.
>>
>>34016936
Sig got a sweetheart deal. Why else would the army pick a gun that has been around for a few years with very small if any LEO adoption. Let alone civilian use.
>>
>>34019923
If you can deal with $30-$40 magazines and don't care for the Gadget (link), get the P320C.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t69VcNx-58&t

I own both but I can't really give you much input.
>>
>>34020006
I heard the airforce is adopting them too, or is it just the army?
>>
>>34020045
iirc, it's all the branches except for the CG.
>>
>>34019879
So wll the army actually use the reflex sight cutouts or what
>>
>>34020049
I don`t understand why can`t they use a 10mm or better though.
Even during the hearing of the Defense Secretary, Mattis was asked about it, improvement of the gears soldiers use, they mostly complained about the caliber, not the gun itself.
>>
>>34020103
>Even during the hearing of the Defense Secretary, Mattis was asked about it, improvement of the gears soldiers use, they mostly complained about the caliber, not the gun itself.

It's because they don't know what they're talking about. Same thing with the whole overmatch bugaboo.
>>
>>34020103
Can't the Sig be converted to 10mm, .40, and 9mm pretty easily though?
>>
>>34019974
wait theyre switching from 9mm? why?
>>
>>34020135
>>34020140
I don`t know, possibly the same reason for the 1986 FBI shootout.
I thought the only reason even the FBI was going back to 9mm were bids and not actually the fact that it was a better caliber in itself.
>>
>>34020135
>>34020140
They also want to change the .223 for an intermediary of the .308
I`m not sure how it will end though
>>
>>34019474
>ughh. Nobody wants to lug around a heavy ass duty metal frame pistol when most soldiers never even draw the thing and rely on their ARs. It's like you think the things will break even though we've been using poly on guns since the 50's.
Spot on. The Polymer hate is so ridiculous.
It's not a fucking sword.
>>
>>34019636
>Manual safety
Why?
>>
>>34020679
So retards don't ND?
>>
>>34019562
Also were being sold at $207 per
>>
>>34016986
>Implying polymer is worse than steel

If you weren't so poor that you could afford a new car, you'd see that they use the exact same polymer to make crash beams and structural reinforcements that used to be steel. It's lighter and stronger.
>>
>>34020140
9mm ain't shit without hollow points. They're probably going back to .45 ACP given all the discussion around suppressors being issued to every infantryman now.
>>
Anyone know where you can buy the threaded barrels, I want one for my compact...
>>
I really, REALLY hate how excessively plastic looking the frame of the P320 is.

It looks like a toy.
>>
>>34022097
Too bad it has no bearing on whether or not it launches bullets. Your opinion is shit and you're gay.
>>
>>34021707
>>34022110
Polymer fags getting salty itt
>>
>>34017147
Nitron > that shitty bluing they used to do that would just remain bare metal on some surfaces
>>
>>34019985
>Get the P320 Compact. It's not the ugly brick that is the glock.

Yeah it's even uglier somehow. Bravo exeter.
>>
>>34020049
No, just the army. Not all of the army either. Green Berets will continue to use glocks.
>>
>>34020135
Yeah, just gotta replace the barrel, slide, frame, and magazines. There is no 10mm model or plans for one either btw.
>>
>>34020140
They're not.
>>34021738
>9mm ain't shit without hollow points.
Neither is any other pistol caliber. Which is why there's currently a debate about whether to adopt hollowpoint handgun ammo for the miltary.
Fuddy five is NEVER EVER coming back.
>>
this thread makes me genuinely proud to own a 320 as corny as that is too say. it's seriously my favorite gun and I will never sell it. it makes me cum.

Hey guys I have a problem. The P320 is my first gun and after 2 range sessions it's shown to shoot low. Like really low. I can't figure out why? Sigs should be point of aim = point of impact right? What can I do to fix this? Get adjustable sights?
>>
>>34016936
Pros: it's a good 9mm

Cons: H&K cucked us out of Five-Sevens years ago.
>>
>>34022447
Something something energy dump and hydrostatic shock theory that no one reliably believes in means that .45 will be used in suppressed pistols because muh full energy use.
>>
>>34022249
Dont let salt near your metal frame or it'll rust.
>>
>>34022331

Dude, let it go. Glock lost. They should have been more perfect.
>>
>>34023049

You are prob breaking your wrist down or changing your grip mid trigger pull. If anything other than your trigger finger is moving when you fire, something is wrong.
>>
>>34023147
fn made fiveseven you idiot; not hk
>>
>>34023233
>not knowing the story
>>
>>34023213
That's possible but I let some range buddy's who are better shooters than me shoot the gun and they also shot way low. I need to test it some more but I don't think it's user error.
>>
>>34023183
I don't own a glock or any polymer pistols. That doesnt change the fact that the p320 looks like a happy meal toy. The m9a3 should have won and continued to build and inprove on the tradition of the m9. The only reason it got handed to Exeter is some pencil pusher thought "muh maw-jew-larrity" sounded good on paper even though it's a retarded meme and will never be used.
>>
>>34023427
the sig p320 looks sick af bro get some taste. the m9 looks fuckin dumb and huge
>>
>>34022086
@Sig of course if you want a factory replacement. But it could be a while anon. Guns and parts sold out right after they announced the p320 won.
>>
>>34023427

when has that ever stopped a retard from killing themselves?
>>
>>34020103
Problem is the army uses FMJ ammo, and 9mm FMJ tends to go straight through people.

Changing up to 10mm won't fix that. They just need to adopt hollownpoints if they want better pistol performance, but muh logistics
