so i picked up this Garand the other day, receiver is SA january 1945 SA barrel is 1945, trigger group is SA 1945, the magazine follower is 1945, the bolt SA 1955. would it be worth it time to buy a 1945 SA bolt and make it all match?

I was gonna join the cmp to get one of these super cheap. But there are no cmp clubs near me. What do?
>>33998211
no idea, mine was a private sale
>>33998224
How much did you pay for yours?
There's a gun show near me soon. I wanna go there and find one maybe but I'd what I should look for in the grand to know if it's worth it. This would be my first gun purchase ever btw
Had a dude come into the store I worked at and bought a garand for like 1700 bucks. I like garands, I own two myself, but for something that looked like it was a service grade springfield, I wouldn't never pay that much.
That's just me though.

i paid $750 for this rifle, its my first one, so im still new to Garands, the bore was decent, so i went for it

>$750 for a private sale M1
no way.
>>33998315
Have you fired it at all yet? 750 is better than the cmp price for one I was looking at. Any pitting or evidence of heavy wear on it?
>>33998355
a little bit of pitting on the barrel under the stock, looks like a forging error, its not super worn out, looks like the original finish on the receiver and barrel

I can't see much from here but it looks like it'd in good condition jeez how did you get it for 750?
How is the wood? 750 just seems like it'd too good to be true

stock is only marked R168 with a few dings and dents, i got it from an older guy who need some quick cash for another rifle he wanted
