Primer
>>
>>33995664
I looked at the primer and thought "son that there is a battery"

Can't actually help tho sorry. Bizarre strike though.
>>
>>33995660
Base diameter?
>>
>>33995706
12,2mm
>>33995698
yeah i wonder if it's one of those electronic primers
>>
>>33995725
It's possible considering that would be a good way to insulate the two contacts.
>>
>>33995660
7.63 x 25 Mauser?
>>

Was going to say the 9mm Spotter round for the UK LAW80 (similar to the SMAW) as they are a 9mm projo on a necked out case with a .22Hornet case inset into the base, but the overall length is too short.
>interesting

LAW & SMAW are 9x51mm but similar design of cartridge base
>>
My guess is that it's a .357 AMP cartridge for the Automag, the dimensions are just about right. (9x33mm and based on a .308 case, which has a 12.01mm rim diameter, close enough that production or measurement variations could account for the .2mm difference.)

I can't even begin to guess what the deal with that primer is, though.
>>
>>33995868
I was thinking .357 Automag too, but still dosen't explain primer? i was thinking is this rifle made to be quiet as possible .357 bullets 200gr velocities under 1000fps, with electronic primer you don't get the noice from firing pin hitting regular primer.

But that doesn't explain who made it or how. The only available electronic ignition system I'm aware of was Remington's Etronx rifle and cartridges but 1. They only came in 3 calibers, none of which are 9x33mm and 2. Even the Etronx primers aren't the same as what op pictured (albeit similar). Pic related js and unfired Etronx for comparison.

The centre of the primer looks to have a percissive strike, so probably nor electric primer.
The multiring construction of the cartridge base suggests there is more to it than just a standard drawn brass case - so its likely to be either a reduced capacity setup like the LAW/SMAW or possibly something like the Russian SP4 captive piston tricks.

>So OP any background?
Where are you, where and how did you find it?
>>
>>33996041
Geez. Excuse my bad typing today. *percussive, not, multi-ring etc
>>
>>33996041
Finland, it was my local range where military does also training, part where i found is used mostly by hunters and sometimes military police because the open area, they use small arms only, rifles, pistols, smg, shotguns and sometimes training grenades, i find grenade pins once in awhile and casings left by them, never ever seen this over 5 year span.
>>
8mm Kurtz maybe? Doesn't explain the primer though

>And inside the case - just powder capacity, or anything non-standard?

Anybody heard if the Finns are making their own VSS-style suppressed AKvariant?

Inside of the case, looks pretty normal expect primer. I haven't heard or seen any new things on range latelty.
>>
>>33996238
That really looks like an electric primer to me... The spot may just have been a drop or something. It doesn't look like a deep enough impact to be from a firing pin
>>
>>33996238
EODfag
>looks odd with that circle presumably matching the different ring on the base.
Is that right at the base internally, or is it similar to the SMAW cutaway (>>33995835 ) with the .22hornet case inside the main?
Its hard to judge depth but either way it looks like the primer is only firing a small quantity of powder in that inner cup.
>>
>>33996290

The residue around it also looks more like pyrotechnic than propellant.
Maybe a simulator round for an AT weapon similar to a sub-calibre but more for just firing indicator for a laser system like Miles/TESS?

https://youtu.be/Q4v1_byHetI
84subcal 9mm - not what OP has as its straightwall 9x19, they used to be 6.5x55 and theres a 20mm one for the 551RAP - but it could be a similar concept system
>>
>>33996327
That's what I was currently looking up. Sub-caliber rounds
>>
>>33996290
Its like small bump at the bottom
>>33996327
i don't think it's for AT weapon, the range is not very long(100yards), MP goes there training CQC and tactical shooting.

That one was fun OP, good find. Had me stumped for a good while.

It is an electric primer btw, the divot seems to be coincidental.

Bingo! 9x39 and elec primed
A finnish subcal round for a french AT launcher on a spanish website. Good get.
>>
>>33996376
Well fuck me! never thought they would use such weaponry on that range.
>>
>>33996447
Eh, it's a sub-caliber round. They may as well be shooting a single shot pistol back there
